Stacey Christie

Arbroath cricketer Stacey Christie has been spending her summer playing cricket for Scotland Under 17's Women's Team.  As part of the ECB County Championships 2008 they have travelled to play teams from Durham, Cheshire, Lancashire and Yorkshire.  Having performed well in those games she was delighted to have been selected as 12th man (woman) to represent Scotland's Senior Women's Team against Durham, where she took part in the final four overs.  Stacey's hoping to get the opportunity to represent the Under 21's Scotland Women's Team who will be competing in next years European Championships.

To all Cricket Players, all ages

Dear All

Comments have been made regarding the smell coming from the Changing Rooms with the Clubhouse at A.U.C.C.

As a result of this, I have cleared out all the clothing and equipment within the changing rooms both home and away. I have particularly cleared the equipment/ clothing on the shelf above the pegs. It was not the most pleasant of tasks but had to be done.  I have not touched bags that are neatly stored despite the fact they should be in the shed at the rear.

The Equipment / Clothing has been put into bin liners and 2 other bags and put in the shed at the rear of the Club. It is in the equipment shed on the bottom shelf to the right hand side as you go in. Much of the equipment appears to be old and rather than putting in the bin, it is left lying around the Clubhouse. It will remain in the shed for approximately 2 weeks before I will take it to the dump. If you do find some thing missing, I do apologise, please feel free to reclaim anything that is your property. If you do search through the bags please replace them tidily. There are a number of old helmets, cricket boots, thigh pads, training shoes, football boots, pads, batting gloves, last years shirts, 2 bags, Scotland shirts, etc.

Players are once more reminded that the Clubhouse is not a dumping ground for their old or new kit. You might get away with it if you zip it up in a bag and leave it tidy.

Other rubbish, smelly socks and other underwear damp towels etc. have already taken away and dumped.

Parents

There were also a number of jackets that were hung up beside the Telephone. These have also been cleared and are again in the sheds.

            (a)        Clubs are reminded to register any professionals and overseas amateurs before

the EGM notice or to the amended constitution in the Handbook (when available).

all divisions.

            (b)        The maximum number of overs that any bowler can bowl in any league match in

                        any division is 9.

            (c)        The length of matches in the Premier Division and in Divs 1 & 2 is 90 overs.

The length is 80 overs in Div 3.

4.  Match Returns

(a)        Some clubs were less than punctual in submitting their match returns to Ian

Chisholm last season.    As usual, the Union Committee intends to apply Rule 13

during the coming season, if necessary.

(b)               Clubs are reminded that match returns may be posted or emailed to Ian Chisholm.

E-mail should be a quicker process.

(c)                On all match returns, please remember to enter in the correct place (i) the number of wickets lost, (ii) the total scored and (iii) the players who did not bat. Please also indicate clearly who the not out batsmen were.

5.  E-mail Addresses

If your club or a reliable club member has recently acquired an “e-mail address”, then

please notify me and I can send future communications by e-mail.

6.  Cup Draws/Neutral Umpires

The draws were sent earlier by email (unless you are on the postal list or in the PCA

Cup). They will of course appear in the handbook. Remember the notes are also very

important. Please note that we are again using neutral umpires this season. SNCL pros

can take part in the 3 Counties Cup. At the time of writing, the Cups are not sponsored

this season.

7.  Handbook Advertisers

If you know of anyone or any business, who wishes to advertise in the handbook, then

please contact Richard Miller on 01382 737592 for details asap. A full page advert costs

only £50.

8.  Balls

You may have already received your order from a committee member. If not, you should

in the next week or so. David Armstrong has the balls for Almond Valley, Breadalbane, Glendelvine, Kinross, Kirriemuir, Mayfield, Perthshire, Strathearn and Strathmore. Ian Potts has the balls for Coupar Angus and Meigle. Lindsay Ancell took responsibility for DHSFP, Kinloch, Northern and Rossie Priory. I have delivered the balls for Huntly, Mannofield, Stoneywood/Dyce, Arbroath, Brechin and Montrose. The rest will be delivered to Clubsport, Dundee for uplifting.

9.  Unpaid Dues

If you have not paid for your balls or your annual subscription, then our treasurer,

Richard Miller, will be on your case soon. You will receive an invoice for any unpaid

dues when the handbooks are delivered. The Union would appreciate prompt payment.

10.  Protests

Clubs are reminded that the protest deposit has been increased to £20. If a deposit is not

submitted, the  protest will not be considered. This means that the Secretary can be

notified by phone that a protest will be submitted, but the official protest with details and

deposit can only be made by post or handed to the Secretary or a Committee member.

11.  End of League Season

The final date for a league match in Divs 1, 2 & 3 is September 16th.

10.  Website

The Union has been informed by Cricket Scotland that it may not be possible to include our results on their website.

11.  Neutral Umpires in League Matches

Once again, clubs will not have to reimburse umpires after games this season. Instead

each umpire is being given a float of £50. The umpires should then to submit their claims

for expenses at the end of each month to the Treasurer, Richard Miller.

12.  Umpires

            (1)        Thankfully there were no reported cases of umpire abuse last season; however the

Committee would like to remind all captains that they need to keep their players

in check. This is a requirement as detailed in the Preamble to the Laws of Cricket

and in Law 42.18 of the Laws.

(2)        Unfortunately there were some complaints about blatant biased umpiring by a few

players. Please try to be neutral and fair when umpiring.

13.  Time Wasting

Captains are reminded that the Union Committee would like to see an over rate of 18 overs per hour. There was an excellent article in the 2005 handbook, which showed how easily time can be wasted (or saved) during a game.

14.  Financial Assistance

As always, the Union Committee is willing to consider financial support for any initiative which would improve the standard of cricket in the area, e.g. practice facilities, artificial pitches, umpiring or coaching courses, but not the cost of professionals/coaches.

Here’s hoping for a drier and sunnier summer than last year. I hope to see many of you during the season. Good luck to you all but please remember that you cannot win them all and cricket is meant to be a gentleman’s game so let’s try and be fair in our decisions.

David.

The night Terror struck the cricket Club

A horrific event happened on the night of CJ and Gillies Benefit Disco.

People were asking how could such a thing be allowed to happen. As you will see below the shocked look on some peoples face is hard to bare.

This reveller thought it was a jaw dropping gruesome experience.

Others just thought it was unbelieveable.

The terrified look on this party goer, tells it all!

Some thought that it was an eyebrow raising event.

Others did too.

Not everyone thought that it was so horrific, in fact some thought it was quite amusing.

After SIZING up the situation some thought that it was quite hillarious.

Others just couldn't contain themselves.

And some just saw red.

And there was one or two who just went completely overboard, it was never that funny.

Some thought it was so horrific they could only bare to look with one eye.

There were a few who just couldn't care less.

And other who actually missed the event completely.

Some are now on therapy to help get over this ugly event.

Some were just utterly dumb struck by this sickening incident.

What was it, what caused this great dreadful event.

Well unfortunely the flash on the camera didnt work, only the people who were present will ever know how horrifying an ordeal this was.
