National league play-offs

United are joined in the National League First Division next season by Dunfermline Knights who defeated West Lothian by nine wickets at Lochlands last week and Poloc who lost by six wickets to McCrea FS West at Stirling.

Dukes Strathmore & Perthshire Second Division

United’s third team completed their season on Sunday in what had been a stop start season with for various reasons only ten of nineteen matches being completed.   Results were disappointing with only one victory being recorded, however on the positive side United were able to give several youngsters experience of playing the longer game.

League Placings

National League First Division

With both United and Drumpellier seeing their final match postponed United finished the season in fourth place, an improvement of five places from last season.    The first half of the season saw United make a strong challenge winning six of their nine fixtures and although they fell away with only one win from six games in the second half they managed to retain fourth place during this period.   Elsewhere in the league the final round of fixtures saw Aberdeenshire, the champions, defeat Forfarshire and this allowed McCrea FS West to move into second place and a Premier Division play-off game with Poloc.  At the foot of the league Freuchie are relegated while West Lothian have a play-off game with Dunfermline.   The two teams automatically joining the First Division next season are Ferguslie, who won the Scottish Cup and Stoneywood/Dyce.

Dukes Strathmore & Perthshire Premier Division

United’s victory in their final game coupled with Strathmore’s defeat from DHSFP’s saw United finish the season in sixth place.   The combination of experience and youngsters proved successful as United retained their sixth place of last season.    The league was won by Mannofield with Huntly as runners-up.
