&Ampersand

Introduction

Welcome to &Ampersand, a music blog that is run by yours truly. This is perhaps the third time that I've tried reviving my music site, and it marks a new era for me because I have been offline for almost two years.

Enjoy your stay here and especially enjoy the diverse array of music that I will post. I generally rotate a lot of English music, but of course there will also be a large variety of Asian music, ranging from Krock, kpop, cpop, etc. I indulge in almost every kind of music there is, so please feel free to sample the songs, and remember to follow the guidelines before downloading!

Updates

August 1, 2007 Long time no new songs ;_; Okay, the selection this time is kick-ass. There are fewer songs, but I will probably end up adding more, etc. The songs are from a wide variety of genres. All of them are definitely worth listening to. I will also change the video soon! Thanks for continuing to visit &Ampersand!! Also, I'm looking for affiliates/link exchanges, please email me if you are interested!! Thanks!

Current Rotation

Richie Ren | Hua Tian xiang (Fragant Flower) | 4:39
Description:
This was the opening song for a 2001 TVB series, Chor Lau Heung. I think Richie Ren is better known as a singer than he is as an actor, but I really enjoy him in both areas because I think he was so talented. This song is just perfect for the series, which featured a lot of big-name movie stars such as Gigi Lai, Anita Yuen, Ruby Lin, Dicky Cheung, and Richie Ren himself was the main character. This is such a beautiful song, I love it. It sounds like an "old-Chinese movie" song, you know...a song that sounds as if it had been made for a certain movie. This song incorporates a martial-arts feeling along with the flutes to produce a song that is unique and kind of sad. Richie's voice is really good, too, it is very powerful and clear.

Sugarcult | I Melt With You | 3:47
Description:
I downloaded a cover of this song a few days at another rotation site and it urged to post the original version of this song, which is AWESOME. Just a quick warning...this song is a little dirty if you know what they are singing about ^^;;; But that's okay, all 80s songs are kind of like that. I love 80s music!!! I like to call it the eclectic 80s because there is a certain quality about that decade that makes it so unique. It's a quirky decade I think :) this song is really upbeat and fun, it's also really cute. The singer's voice is sleek, and has a bit of a European hint to it, as most other singers in the 80s sounded like. Singers nowdays don't have the quality of voice that the people back in the 80s had. i don't know how to explain it. This song is just great, download!!!!

Chris Cornell | Sunshower | 5:53
Description:
OMG it's Chris Cornell!!!! I was so lucky to be able to see him in live concert a few weeks ago. He is amazing in live concert!! Or maybe the sound system was just really good at the Orpheum =P This song was ont he Great Expectations soundtrack starring Gwenyth Paltrow and etc. This is a sweet songs, the lyrics are so touching. Chris Cornell really sounds like he's hurtin'. This is a rather laid-back song, I'm not really sure what genre this would be under...maybe just soft-rock. It's a little repetitive every now and then, but it's just a really good song. DOWNLOAD THIS!! Rating: 10/10

Placebo | Because I Want You | 3:23
Description:
I like Placebo. They are an original band, their music is different from a lot of mainstream stuff. I guess it's rock, but it's not all about screaming, etc. The lyrics are really different and it doesn't have to rhyme to sound good. And the singer's vocie is very really different, too. He sort of drawls, but it sounds erally cool. This song has a really addictive beat. The lyrics a but deceiving, but my favourite line is, "Tear us in two, is all it seems to do" Rating: 9/10

Special Video

Namie Amuro --> Speed Star
Description:
Hm, I don't really have much to say about it. I'm not really into the song itself, but Namie looks nice. As for dance moves...I find that Korean popstars/dancers such as Jeon Hye Bin are more unique and even better dancers, but Namie is definitely multitalented. This song is poppish, but there is a r&b feel to it. Her dance moves in this music video are fun to watch, and she changes outfits like 3 times I think. Not to mention that stripper pole.
