Our new forum is just starting, but as it gets going we'd like to have a DVM or herpetologist drop in to give answers to the more perplexing frog-health and care questions.
If you or anyone you know is interested, please let me know at SZarembski2001@yahoo.com. Put "Frog Expert" in the subject line.
Pepper will move into the 30 gallon this week. Q time is up. I still don't know if Pepper is a male or female, but there should be some sign by the spring, in time to send Pepper or another frog or two to Donna.
I'll be interested to see Pepper's reaction when s/he sees the other frogs in the big tank. Pepper's been isolated from other frogs since mid-September. It's not something I like to do to DAFs, but it was necessary at the time. Pepper has been living with my puffer, Critter, but they pass like ships in the night.
The three new frogs in the biOrb have passed the one-month point in their quarantine and so far seem to be well. I'll keep my fingers crossed, particularly after the two frogs I bought to keep with them, (a few weeks after I bought the original three), both died within 24 hours of purchase. I don't think it was from chytrid, but I'm being cautious nonetheless.
That event has left me very worried about moving Pepper. The pH in the big tank is quite a big lower than in the 2.5 gallon, where Pepper has been living. I'm going to go out of my way to be cautious on this move so as not to shock Pepper. I don't know that this is what happened to the other frogs, but it seems a likely scenario considering how quickly they died.
