Jada Interview
April 2005
April Forrest, Lauren O'Keefe,Elle Wine and Jacyn Tremblay
First of all I want to say how awesome it was to be able to turn on the Tv on Grammy night and see you guys several times posing and doing interviews!
How did that feel to be walking down the Red Carpet at the Grammys? What was going through your heads?
Jacyn: Well I was thinking--"What the HECK are we doing here!"...It was very surreal to be in the company of so many celebrities! I think after awhile I was numb from all of the cameras flashing and reporters yelling at us to turn around and smile!
Lauren: It was so unreal to be on the red carpet with all of those celebrities! When Usher walked by Elle and I literally clutched hands because we couldn't believe what was going on! It was an amazing experience:)
Elle: It's definitely one of those things that we'll all remember forever.
April: It was really cool. The funny thing is, I didn't really feel star struck, like I was really excited to see all the celebs, but I felt really comfortable being there. It was freakin cool stuff.
On the Red Carpet who did you meet and who impressed you the most?
Jacyn: We met SOO many people, but I really liked our encounter with Mark McGrath (Sugar Ray). He works for Access Hollywood. He was the sweetest guy! He told us to "enjoy the ride!" that is the music business!
Lauren: We met Cindi Lauper, Quentin Terentino, Paulina Rubio, Hubastank, Penelope Cruz, The Roots, and Zach Braff to name a few. They were all so cool and took time to talk to us. I personally loved meeting The Roots as they are an amazing band, and they are based out of Philly:)
April: I enjoyed meeting Mark McGrath (Sugar Ray)- that was really cool for me....He was sooo nice.
Elle: I'd have to say that Usher impressed me the most just because of the power he had over me when he walked by, it was like I was drawn to him and I couldn't turn my head away for the life of me.
What did you guys wear at the Grammys (who was your designer?) and did you go to any after parties? If so what did you wear to that too?
Jacyn: Yes, we wore Debra Wine originals!! Hehehe..I only laugh because it was Elle's mom that made us look soooo spectacular and GORGEOUS! She's a talented lady! Our wardrobe was color themed violet and silver. Lauren and I were in beaded corsets with Lauren in a beautiful silver pencil skirt and me in flowing silver satin dress pants with slits all up the sides! Elle in a knockout satin halter dress with taffeta overlays and April's dress was shades of magenta and violet and was sexy and flirty. Our shoes went from silver sequined pumps to violet stiletto beaded sandals with satin lacing up the leg!
Elle: I love my mom!!
Were you guys nervous?
Lauren: The day before I was nervous, but the day of I was so excited! I couldn't wait to get into the limo and make our way to the red carpet!
April: No, I wasn't really nervous, but I was really excited.
Elle: I think I was too excited to be nervous.
What was the best part of this whole trip for you guys?
Jacyn: I would have to say the Grammy's!! I think that topped it off for me this year!! UNTIL NEXT YEAR....!!
Lauren: The best part for me was of course going to the Grammy's, but also meeting with a few labels and top notch producers in the industry. It was a trip!
April: for me the best part was singing for Jimmy Jam at the Grammy's. We just started singing a capella for him and like over 100 people crowded around and when we were done he said "Ill see you girls at the Grammys next year!" That was amazing!
Elle: I would have to agree with everyone else but be more specific and say walking the red carpet.
Did you get to sight- see anywhere? What was your favorite spot in LA?Jacyn: I really liked walking up and down (and shopping!) on Hollywood Boulevard! The old theaters and glamorous architecture was so great! And we attended the Jimmy Kimmel show which was a kick. Shooting video footage out on Venice Beach in the sunshine was great too.
Will you be going back to LA ?
Lauren: We are definitely going back to LA in the summer to continue recording projects and meet up with some labels. I can't wait!
On to the next subject..
Your new Music Video called "Work It" is really great. How did you come up with that?
Jacyn: The video concept was one we put together with videographer extraordinaire Ian Barrett! We wanted it to be fun and show our personalities as well as show what we do on a day to day basis--recording, dancing and rehearsing--as well as the photo shoot!!
Did you guys write it?
April: Yes we certainly did. We wrote it with our producer/vocal coach Ric Poulin, and producer Joey P. (who has worked with Ludacris, Jay-Z and Jagged Edge to name a few.)
If so what was your inspiration?
Lauren: We wanted a fun, danceable song that was sexy and clubish. We feel this song gives off that vibe.
April: Yea, we wanted to spice things up a bit .
"Obvious"-your other new song. What is that all about?
Jacyn: Obvious was a song we all wrote about our experiences with "Ex" boyfriends! But there is one in particular who inspired this song--April why don't you field this one!
April: haha... Well Elle and I were talking one night about some of our ex boyfriends, and the things they would do to try and make us jealous. And that's where we came up for the idea for the song. Its basically about the little things guys do after you break up to make you jealous of their "new" girlfriend. But our viewpoint is that it doesn't bother us!!! hehe
Elle: Those boys, they're so slick we know everything they do.
Will you be doing more songs like these 2 new ones? (They are def. different from your other songs.)
Jacyn: Definitely! We are always experimenting with what the JADA sound actually is, but we really like the way both the new songs have come together! We have plenty more up our sleeves, so keep watchin!!
April: Yea, I'm really excited about the songs we're currently workin on...They are awesome :)Elle: We all like all kinds of music so I'm sure we will always surprise you with what we do next. HEHE!!
How is it spending sooo much time with each other ?
Lauren: It's fun! We are such a tight knit group that we know so much about each other! We are like sisters.
Elle: Ya, they're cool!! Haha, I'm really just kidding!!Jacyn: I like these girls sometimes.. it depends on what mood I'm in! HAHA!
