Apprends-Moi Int'l.

Uniting nations through education, literacy and cultural awareness.

Apprends-Moi Int'l. (AMI), French for "teach me," was developed out of a simple desire to make a difference. Today, AMI works to build global prosperity through awareness, appreciation and support of and for other cultures that comes from education. To achieve these goals, we primarily procure and send English and French books to support programming in Congo. We also teach French classes in America, facilitate exchange programs, and offer guided tours... all for the benefit of helping children and adults enjoy and promote the international language of learning. But the project truly dear to our hearts is the donation of books to underprivileged children and students in Congo who are learning English.

Forming AMI has been an arduous journey with many obstacles, but our path has been paved with blessings. Many people have given us books, volunteered to prepare shipments, participated and assisted with French classes and exchange trips, and donated funds for shipments to Africa. It is giving, marvelous volunteers and donors who make our non-profit organization a success. And it is the beautiful people of Africa - always positive, grateful and motivated - who keep us going when things just don't seem to be working out. We're grateful to all of them, and to you for your interest in AMI. May the desire to spread literacy and education fill your open heart, and may AMI be a means for helping you make a difference in your own way.

Our First TV Appearance!

March 20, 2009: It was a big day for us.  The local TV station came to our home and interviewed our boys Michael (8) and Mathieu (6) who just raised over $400 in a self-designed 4-H project: a read-a-thon to send books to Africa. Thought there isn't video footage of the two news segments we were featured in, you can read the transcript under our "In the News" link. With continued fundraising efforts, we are sending books as often as we can. Big thanks go out to our ambitious boys and all of you who remain interested in our efforts and continue to support this work.
