Money makes the world go round, and believe it or not, it's why most kennels today exist.
If there were'nt so many buyers, would anyone take the time to own more than one or two dogs?
Problem is, some people see owning a kennel as a quick fix, a way to riches... WRONG!!!.
The truth is, with the exception of a few well organized kennels who can truly make profits
Feeding one grown dog twice daily on a high quality diet will cost you approximately $50-55
monthly.
That amount equates $660 yearly, plus vet fees, toys, boarding when of if you vacation, and other,
odds and ends bringing your totals to about $1000.
Two dogs will cost you twice as much and twice the work, time and efforts.
Four dogs will cost you a lot more than twice the amount of efforts.
Done correctly, owning four dogs will average about 4,500 annualy plus cost of pens,
doggy houses , crates food etc.
Many people go into owning kennels without the proper concept of what it would take to
efficiently run one .
Teenagers not knowing what they are getting into, using these dogs for profits and in the process
ill treating our babies.
Skipping heats on bitches will only mean that you have to carry that dog
until she has puppies again to get any income from sales of her pups.
Each time a heat is skipped , an average of ten months passes before you will be able to sell
pups from that same female, six until the next heat, two for pups to be born and two before
they can be sold, if you can sell them.
Most good breeders skip two heats..
Do you plan on breeding every heat cycle? Is This You??
Some kennels have three or four simaltanious breedings without knowing how these puppies
can be sold or how effectively they can find these animals great homes.
Eventually, many kennels end up with puppies that are four, five or even six months old, without
being in new homes .
Some of these pups are eventually given away to bad homes just to rid the responsibility of
extended care and expense.
Visit your local humane society, see for yourself, APBT's are in every shelter in the country.
Unfortunately, some are there just shortly before they are euthanized.
We urge you to please breed responsibly, better yet, if you are not equipped to breed, DONT!!
The more dogs you have the less you can profit.
As BSL laws continue to reap havoc on our breed of choice , many Kennels are forced to give up their beloved pets.
Where does your state or city stand with BSL?
