Background
Aristaeus was born and raised on a small island off the coast of Lyva. During his childhood days, his father Aristaeus the Elder provided for the simple family of three, living alone on an otherwise deserted island only a few miles in diameter, by keeping bees and exporting the honey to suppliment their meager supply of home-grown grain. But when young Aristaeus saw his father down by the shore with his barrels of honey speaking with men next to a small ship, later watching them sail away, he became curious as to who these men were. And when he asked his father about them, Aristaeus began learning the long story of man's ability to measure the waves with foaming prows. Aristaeus the Elder even told stories of his days serving in the Vagrian navy as a valiant sailor who had many times thwarted the exploits of black-handed pirates. Yet it was the pirates who truly captured the heart of Aristaeus the younger in these tales. As Aristaeus matured through his teens, he came to resent the harsh restrictions imposed by his father, particularly the strict regimen of chores on the family farm and specific forbiddances against exploration of the island. Regretting by extension that his father had disappointed him by turning out to be on the "right" side of the law at sea, he nurtured a deep hatred for his father and jealousy of the pirating lifestyle that finally manifested when he absconded with a flail that he had formerly used to thresh grain on the farm and hid himself away in one of the honey barrels. Having escaped to a nearby port town in Lyva, Aristaeus plied his knack for deceit and unusually large size in his efforts to be bought by any ship tha was hiring, finally being picked among other jobless hopefuls to become a deckhand on a merchant vessel. There he learned the trade of sailing and even picked up on the ins and outs of fighting. When after years of sailing Aristaeus could finally afford his own weapon-grade flail, armor, and a small boat of his own, he set off to Akirfa in hopes of realizing his destiny as a notorious pirate. He is currently 26 years old.

Personality
Aristaeus displays, as often as possible, the persona of a rough, crass, unfeeling pirate. Though he strives to match the identity of the privateers of legend, he is usually much fairer than he would lead you to believe, paying his crew well and far in advance. This frightening facade stems from his need to spread an intimidating reputation, effectively terrorizing potential opponents before they even face him. Aristaeus thinks in advance and plans well, and he fights dirty in battle, striking at weak spots and prone opponents without compunctions. He also won't hesitate to flee from a battle he's losing, though if opponents who know his name see him do so, he makes every effort to silence them before they can spread damaging rumors.
