Today i ordered my Messor Barbarus queen from Edu Sci, and hopefully she should arrive safe and sound soon, this will be my second attempt at keeping M.Barbarus and hopefully it will go well.

Monday 24th March 2008

Today my plaster nest is finished (to see pictures have a look at My Messor Barbarus page) and hopefully my queen will come tommorow and if im really lucky she will have a worker with her =]

Wednesday 26th March 2008

Today my Messor Barbarus queen arrived she has no brood or any workers, I quickly moved her from the little test tube she was in to a bigger testube with a better water supply using a light in the smaller test tube while the bigger test tube is in the shade she quickly moved into the new test tube so i linked her straight up to the plaster nest where she has now has called a chamber her own, there is a water supply linked up to the nest, in the form of a test tube, the nest is heated at about 29*C using a heat mat.

Friday 4th April 2008

I had to move my queen from the plaster nest into a test tube connected to a ferrero roche box because of condensation on the glass. My queen quickly settled in and has layed about a dozen eggs and seems to be happy. The set up is placed on top of my heat mat to keep it warm.
