I am, indeed, that most awful of creatures in a trendily nonjudgmental Neopagan conceptual universe - a reformer. "I'm OK, you're OK" is not the basis that this ring is going to be run on. In general, if a philosophical argument would not pass muster in the non-pagan world without any postmodernists present, it won't impress anybody here. Proclamations will not cut it. I need to see real arguments with real content. Keep in mind the fact that I am adopting these rings, so don't take the sites already present as being examples of what I will accept. Instead, drop by a college campus, go into the bookstore, open a real text of philosophy, one not written by Derrida or his ilk, see what that person does. an then do something sort of like that yourself.

These are juried webrings, so to join one of them, you must drop by either A GraecoRoman Soabox and Free Speech Forum or Conservative Midwestern Pagans, become an active member, and then talk about your site while staying on-topic on the list; if that last part is impossible, then you should not apply to this ring. Don't expect immediate gratification. We are going to be going through your site, examining your arguments, and maybe play devil's advocate with you a little. Think of it as being a thesis defense.

Very important note: You can join one of these rings or the other (if admitted), but not both. Yes, some sites do belong to both, but they're grandfathered in. As of today (Sept.1, 2006), the two rings are being administered as a single unit. There may be a natural progression toward all Pagan rings becoming clones of each other, with every Pagan site trying to join every Pagan ring, but "natural" does not always mean "good". Theology is a branch of Philosophy, so there would seem to be a natural overlap of functions between the two rings, and having people join both would be an exercise in redundancy. The best guide, perhaps, to deciding which ring to join is this - is your site more focused on living, as a Pagan, in this world? Then join Pagan philosophy. Is it more about a discussion of the nature of the Divine, the afterlife, or that which goes beyond what we can see? Then apply to Pagan Theology.

This procedure does currently limit the rings to Classical (Greek and Roman) and Conservative Pagans, at least until I can find more forums to partner with, but I don't intend to see that become a permanent feature of the ring; Asatruar involvement in the ring is an obvious short term possibility, given the ties the Asatrur have with Conservative Pagandom, and from there we can start working outward to connect to more communities. Please respect the fact that commercial sites are not accepted on these rings. The first navbar or second below should take you to where you need to be, if you're just dropping by, and I hope you have an interesting visit.
