This site has one very narrowly focused purpose. I mention books that are relevant to the subject matter of my other sites, maybe talk about them a little, and then include some links to Amazon, Barnes and Noble or whoever else is selling them. This is summer, and anybody who knows me will tell you what I'm up to, given the warm weather - escaping nine months worth of accumulated cabin fever, that's what. So, it may be a while before there's much here, though as you can see by looking at the Almond Jar, when it shows up, it will be in volume.

What should you expect to see? In short order, once relevant affiliate applications go through, I'll be pointing you in the direction of the Loeb's classic library, which strikes me as a good place for any kind of Classical Traditionalist to start - reputable English translations of what survives of ancient Greek and Roman literature, the next best thing to a primary source. Aside from that, the next two sections I'll work on might seem to be an odd match, but they fit - Philosophy and Cooking. Cooking? Remember the role of the sacrifice in Hellenism and its offshots, and what the "sacrifice" is - a ritual dinner held in honor of the gods; bloodletting is almost beside the point and, indeed, is seldom seen in modern Hellenism. If we're going to honor such esteemed company, I think that we should do so with at least a little style.

What you will see here, then, will be book reviews, maybe a few recipes and photographs (cityscapes of Chicago, mainly) and that's it. I think that's enough, especially since this is not my only site. Look for the first reviews a while into 2006, probably in early February. See you then. In the meantime, would you like to look at a few other sites I've done?
