About the Antiquarium

Omaha Is At A Loss - Antiquaraium moving to Brownville, NE.  The Omaha store will be closed by September 2007.  June is the last month of the sale, 80% off until the end of June only!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • Stop by for coffee and details (and a great read)
  • August 1969 began the roots of the Antiquarium; having made an agreement with Duchesne College of Omaha, Tom Rudloff sold the remainder of books from a sale (at Duchense) out of his back yard.  With these efforts from his back yard Tom made the jump from back yard to his own building the next year.
  • February 1970 the first retail shop opened up in downtown Omaha on the north side of what is today the Old Market.
  • July 1974 through Urbane Renewal Refugees the trek to the current address (one block away) began. Formally opening at 1215 Harney Street in November 1974.

Over the years business has grown, making it impossible to house the current inventory of used books.  New shelves, walkways, stairs and a new wing have been added, including what is now know as the Rare Book Room. A conservative estimate on the total of books is around 100,000.  In addition to a few books here and there the Antiquarium houses 2 art galleries and the independently owned and operated Antiquarium Record Shop, world famous for its Indie selection of vinyl, cassettes and cd's.

The galleries play host to a permanent ongoing show of Bill Farmer works, a collection that spans decades, while the other hosts both native artists and artists from abroad. To find out more on Bill Farmer and his work please visit - http://antiquarium.com. or http://antiquarium4books.bravehost.com
