Congratulations are in order for the Franklin Pierce Hurling Ravens, who (almost) swept the women's division at the fourteenth annual Northeast Open Atlatl Championship at Chimney Point State Park in Addison, Vt. this weekend, winning five of six medals. FPU Junior Devin Batchelder was overall women's champion and Taber Morrell picked up a bronze medal in the men's distance category. April 2009
The Anthro Club is having a very busy semester.
Atlatl practices have begun again, twice a week and we are getting really good.
We had a very successful St. Patrick's Day Music Night on March 9th.
We did some experimental archaeology during our meetings. We tried mastering the art of Flintknapping.
We also did some experimenting with making our own atlatl darts.
We went on a dig to help the president with her thesis research.

Whats On Now!
January 2009
Six members of the Anthropology Club and our archaeology professor Bob were invited to present about atlatls at the Archaeology Fair for the Archaeology Institute of America's Annual Conference in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania from January 9-11. It was a great success and we were invited back to next year's conference which will be in Anaheim California. We also each received a year's subscription to Archaeology Magazine for our participation.
