Some points to ponder before acquiring your new baby...

Asked recently why I do not breed CHOCOLATE,BLUE OR FAWN colored MinPins ??

Please note this is NOT to target any specific breeder-just my own thoughts

My answer is because they lack overall quality confirmation wise and in my opinion don't even compare in quality of the Reds and Blacks. If you look at breeders who do breed those colors take a good hard look at the dogs confirmation and pedigree claiming they are from CHAMPION BLOODLINES and maybe have one champion listed way back in the pedigree! It irritates me to no end when these breeders are selling these pups for $1000.00 or more ! Saying they are AKC & CKC registered which by the way is NOT Canada's CKC but Continental Kennel Club and is not a true registerd body, they even register mixed breeds! Blues and Fawns (MinPins & Dobes) are prone to a skin disorder called Alopecia in which the hair falls out by the time the dog matures around 2 yrs of age or sooner if they didn't have a thick coat to begin with leaving you with basically a naked dog with very sensitive skin and prone to skin infections who has to wear clothes for the rest of its life to protect it from the sun and cold-geez what happened to my fully coated puppy ? My guess is the breeder will fail to give out that info before you buy their pups, wouldn't want to miss out on that $$$ from you ! Any breeder that breeds strictly for color alone is doing it for profit with their claims of "RARE" or "RAINBOW" colors

Does your puppy's breeder do any health testing ?
If they say they do don't be afraid to ask to see your puppy's sire & dam's health test results. A majority of hereditary/congenital problems develop after the age of 2 yrs, with most health testing requires the dog to be at least 12 months old. Even with health testing their is no guarantee that a puppy will not go on to develop a problem later in life BUT the chances of it happening are greatly reduced ! This is quite common among the breeders of toy breeds with males being used at stud from 6 months old and bitches bred on their second season...Siring and or whelping multiple litters before they themselves are fully mature and oh no puppies from those first litters are being diagnosed with problems that may require surgery. Now what ?? Will the breeder take the puppy back or replace it ? Share in the cost of surgery ? Refund your money ? If your lucky the breeder will step up to the plate and assume responsibilty and if they value their reputation maybe will learn from it and start to test their dogs and chose not to ignore you and the problem.

RED FLAGS:
If the breeder tells you they have never had any problems with their bloodline...How would they know if they are breeding their dogs before the age of 2 and are doing no health testing ??

Also breeders that constantly have puppies available year round, to me that says they are not breeding for the betterment of the breed but rather to line their pockets and to fill a demand for puppies.
A majority of commercial breeders will also sell their pups online via websites that accept Paypal and credit cards with little or no screening of potential new homes.
Commericial breeders and Back Yard breeders use free or paid online classified websites
to advertise and sell their pups.

Which is better?
North American lines vs. European lines??
No North American or European Doberman bloodline in the world is completely free of hereditary diseases-prime example is cardiomyopathy its a global problem within the breed since it's creation in the 1890's and some greedy breeders who breed strictly Euro Dobes use that as a selling point for their dogs stating the Euro dogs are cardio free !
There is no better bloodline,do you prefer the "look" of the Euro type vs the North American type dog,
it's what appeals to your eye as the buyer.

Another myth that I hear over and over again is:
"When a Doberman hits a certain age(take your pick) it's brain swells and explodes-and that's when they turn on you or its' brain is too big for the skull and they turn on you !"
This is an old wives tail--no truth too it what so ever !

BUYERS BEWARE

The latest cash cow now surfacing CARLIN PINSCHERS
they are not purebred and are in fact Pug/MinPin crosses (overpriced mutts)
much like Labradoodles,Goldendoodles, and various POO mixes such as Pekeapoo, yorkiepoos, maltipoos, cockapoos, pompoos, schnoodles etc
and cannot be registered with the Canadian or American Kennel Clubs

there are no such breeds as:
KING or WARLOCK Dobermans
SUPER MINPINS
MICRO PINS
POCKET PINS
TEACUPS
Backyard breeders and puppymillers breeding their pet quality dogs with little or no health testing use these terms when all it means is the dog will be OVERSIZE or UNDERSIZE (with toy breeds) according to their breed standard.

MINIATURE DOBERMANS or TOY DOBERMANS
No such breed exists!

MinPins are NOT related to the Doberman at all and in fact they are a much older breed & pre-date the Doberman.
Most litters in any breed will have size variances with undersize, standard, and oversize pups.

Also be wary of the breeders that sell their dogs/pups at different prices because of its color claiming it's "RARE" or charging more for the females than the males-they are out to make a quick buck from unsuspecting people who don't know any different.
Don't fall victim to these scam artists, educate yourself and buy from an ethical breeder.

It is illegal in Canada to sell a purebred dog without registration papers !
If your breeder sold you a purebred dog/puppy without ever receiving its registration certificate within 6 months from the date of sale then you should contact the Canadian Kennel Club immediately at
