April Showers by Anne Maisy Scott

    Maggie’s mind thumbed through the pages of her memory as her eyes wandered about the house.  Memories surfaced from every corner of every room.  The house still had the strong essence of April’s presence.  Maggie felt as if her mother would walk around the corner at any moment.  It was such a strange feeling to realize that she was gone forever.  Her once thunderous footsteps are now forever silent.  Maggie felt a blanket of sadness consume her at the thought of something so final. 

     She wished that she would have one more moment with her mother, but sadly that moment had passed without warning.  Now that April was gone, the family weathers her storms of the past when forgotten memories spring to life.  Unspeakable things happened to April throughout her childhood, which history sadly repeated itself with her own children.  “How will you be remembered?” will forever be April’s legacy.
