April Showers by Anne Maisy Scott

Take Advantage of Summer Festivals & Parades

We have a picture of the book silkscreened with the Publisher on the sleeve.  Since I reside in Michigan, I thought it would be a good idea to state "Michigan Author" in front.  It is important that people know, before a flyer is forced into their hands, that it is not a religious or political flyer.  After learning that we were promoting a book, each person who was given a flyer read it!

However, be careful about the color you choose to use.  As you could tell, we all ROASTED in the summer heat wearing black!

          A 5 Smile Rating out of 5

I need to introduce the April Showers marching group to the world!  These individuals helped me not only create a fantastic memory, but hand out over 900 flyers at the 4th of July parade in Hopkins, Michigan.  Starting from the left is my mother-in-law, Judy.  The moral support she gave me was phenomenal!  Next in line is my sister-in-law Deb with her handsome son, Jonny.  That young man ROCKS!  He collected pocketfulls of candy along the parade route.   Next to Deb are my daughters, Jackie and Janie, whose smiles make me feel condident in this world.  My hubby and I are next in line along with our son, Jared.  Much to our surprise, we were impressed to witness Jared's people-person skills come to life after realizing that he could pass out flyers to the pretty girls in town.  I dare say he's quite the salesman!  I am so glad that each and every one of these smiling faces were a large part of building a memory of my first public ordeal with April Showers.  Wade, my brother-in-law, also wore a shirt to promote the book at the social events in town.

As for the trophy...

We won a trophy for BEST MARCHING UNIT that afternoon!  Well, truth be told, we were the ONLY marching unit to show up at the designated spot for the "walkers."  I had to laugh because my youngest daughter announced, "Award winning author!  Award winning author coming through!"  My nephew followed it up with, "Yeah! We won a trophy for doing nothing!"  I laughed so hard while my heart recorded the whole event!  I'm not sure if I sold any books, but all I know is that my name is out there and a fantastic memory was created on that afternoon!
