War Records

Pension: *S41126

Samuel Salter fought in American Revolutionary War as a  Private. He served in 12th.VA Regiment till May 1,1777 (Enlisted 1776).  Honorably discharged in Winchester,VA. 
He applied for a pension, 29 Oct 1822 in Fayette Co., PA. He was age 69 and Bridget was 64. He received the pension begining, 7 May 1823, in PA, of $96. per yr. for a total of  $1,057.03, This was later transferred to OH. Samuel, Moved to Ohio 19 Jan 1833.

Pension papers for Sam Sr. show that at the time he applied, the only person living with him in Fayette Co, PA was Bridget  In his application, he says he was a private in the Co. commanded by Capt. Ebenezer Zane in the regiment commanded by Col. Joseph Wood. He served 1 year, in the VA line. When he asked for his transfer, he states he moved to Ohio to be with his children.  In pension records, Wm. E S McCean stated that he knew Samuel Salter and he was the same one that lived in PA. He does not mention they were related.
