Jeni's Home-made Cakes WebSite

Cakes for all occasions

NO COMPROMISE IN QUALITY - THAT'S JENI'S!

Hi!  I'm Anne and I run a home-made cake business in Seremban, Negeri Sembilan while holding a full-time job.   Jeni’s Home-made cakes is named after my late mother.  It would be simply grand if the word ‘late’ did not precede the mention of her but such are the blows that life deals us.  I dedicate this site and all it entails to the memory of my parents, G. Soosay and Suseela Jeni who lived a life of selfless giving.  They are greatly missed and cherished and a page on this site (entitled 'my parents, siblings and me') serves as a tribute to them.  I  believe that their blessings accompany my journey.

How I got into the business

I initially baked cakes for family and friends during occasions and then started selling them for fund-raising activities in church. It was then that I started receiving enquiries for orders which I didn't dare consider further owing to my lack of decorating skills (I had no knowledge of piping bags and nozzles a.k.a. tips as I was happy manipulating the plastic icing set!). No matter how great the cake tastes, it still has to look good! I chanced upon the Wilton outlet in PJ while surfing the net looking for decorating tools and was hooked insantly! I couldn't contain my excitement when I discovered that they provided cake decorating classes. I didn't let anything stop my completing all 3 levels of the course.  Having since completed the course, I miss the excitement of looking forward to it  every week.   I have found my passion in life in the baking and decorating of cakes.  It can be tiring especially when 'sleep time' is lost but the exhilaration after I have put it all together is incomparable!

I become restless when I don't bake and I think I should put up a sign in my kitchen saying 'Even if there is no food on the table, let there be cake in the oven!'

Let me now 'showcase' my graduation cakes for each level of the Wilton cake decorating course.

MY WILTON GRADUATION CAKES

ILEVEL 1 CAKE - Main theme : Roses (Sugee cake)  In retrospect, this could have been decorated better but at that time I was akin to a baby just learning to crawl so I've decided not to be so hard on myself!

LEVEL 2 CAKE - Basket of flowers (Carrot cake).  I was quite pleased with this one especially since I had a hard time with the daisies but kept at them until they couldn't elude me!

LEVEL 3 CAKE - 2 Tier Wedding Cake (Top Tier 6" (Hazelnut cake) and bottom tier 10" (Almond Sugee)  I refuse to be modest and will therefore announce that I am proud of this cake (Please ignore the bowl of chicken curry in the background and focus on my cake!)

 ABOUT JENI'S HOME-MADE CAKES

We came into being (commercially) in November 2007 and although our portfolio may not be extremely extensive, we are growing each day and hope that those who stop by this site will help in our growing process!

As our catch-line suggests, we do not compromise on quality;  using only good quality ingredients in all our products.  We also do not believe in using pre-mixes.  Our cakes are made and delivered fresh.  If there is a need for you to order in advance and freeze cakes, we will package these suitably and advice you on storage and defrosting.  Iced cakes however cannot be frozen as these will ‘bleed’ when defrosted and result in a very sorry looking cake!

We do not provide samples I am afraid as this venture is home-based and we do not have an outlet churning out cakes for display or sale.  We make to order and do not have a standard design for our cakes as we try as much as possible to make each creation uniquely yours.  However, we would be happy to duplicate any design you see on this website or any other design you have in mind.   There is also no standard cake as clients can choose among the frostings and fillings made available for each cake to suit their tastes.

Cake designs can be personalised to suit the recipient.  We try to do this for each order, so please don't get tired of our questions!  There is always an occasion surrounding a cake and as it holds a memory, if the cake succeeds in making the recipient smile or even laugh, so much the better!

Besides cakes, we also make a selection of desserts and 'bites'.  Ideally, all orders should be made at least one week in advance for birthday and other occasion cakes  and one month in advance for wedding cakes but as we do not live in an ideal world(!)  we will try and accommodate orders made much later unless we are fully booked up.  We have even made and delivered a wedding cake ordered the day before the wedding reception!   May I add that advance notice is required for cakes which are adorned with sugarpaste/fondant figurines?  This is necessary as these need to be modelled in advance and left to ‘set’.

Check this site out and leave a comment if you wish.  We plan to be able to receive orders online in future but for now, please e-mail me at the address appended or call my mobile at any time.  We only picture our own creations on our website and owing to space limitations have set up a secondary website which will house some latest photographs.  If you would like to take a look please visit http://www.freewebs.com/jenihomemadecakes and don't forget to sign our guestbook there!

Thanks for stopping by!
