Episode 2: The Priestess of Suzaku

At the beginning of this episode, Miaka asks the young man where Yui was, after assuming that they were with each other. He is clueless as to where Yui is, so Miaka asks him to help search for her best friend. After finding out she can’t pay him, he refuses to help her and she proceeds to follow him wherever he goes. Miaka then begins to incessantly bother him which later turns into accusing him of molesting girls, PUBLICLY, forcing him to listen. During their conversation the Imperial Procession passes by interrupting them. The young man exclaims “If I only had one gem of the Emperor’s crown, I’d be rich”, cueing Miaka to take matters into her own hands, running alongside the Emperor’s palanquin. She politely asks him for a gem off of his crown, thinking it would be okay. He’s rich enough as it is, right? Unfortunately, in the process she trips over a rock, and rips off an article of cloth from the palanquin. Angering the soldiers, they take action and one of them decides to try and behead little Miaka, but the man with the sign of “Ogre” on his forehead saves her once again out of the many times later on. He agrees to lend a hand out of respect for her “bravery” she has shown. Introducing himself as Sou Kishouko, also known as Tamahome, which everyone calls him, takes a kiss on her forehead as the payment for what he is about to help her with. By this time, guards are surrounding them, putting them in a bit of a jam. Suddenly, a red light escapes from Miaka, transporting her back to the confidential room in the National Library. She sees Yui reading the book, but Yui is not responding. In Miaka’s state, no one in the real world can see or hear her, but she appears as an apparition of sorts. Floating around the room, Miaka now knows that Yui is safe, but this brief moment soon comes to an end when Miaka was sucked back into the other world again. There, she finds herself and Tamahome arrested on the orders of the Emperor. In the castle prison, Miaka wakes up finding Tamahome beside her. After continually calling him a pervert she begins to get hungry (AGAIN!), she pulls two sticks of gum out of her pocket and chews one. Not coming from the same world, Tamahome is confused on what the strange substances were and what she was doing with it. Miaka blows a big, white bubble popping the gum all over her face. He mistakes her as a ghost because of the mask over her face and is frightened by this scene. This scares the living heck out of the cell’s guard as well, causing him to drop his keys. Thanks to Tamahome and his skills he catches the keys right before they fall to the ground. The two of them escape, separating from one another. Miaka loses Tamahome, giving into her weakness when she follows the scent of FOOD! After sneakily eating the Emperor’s luxurious meals, she realizes that she is lost looking around for Tamahome and instead finds the most beautiful lady she has ever seen. Miaka reveals that she has come from another world, arousing the lady's attention. At this time, Tamahome has been looking for Miaka, but is unfortunate to be seen and chased by the guards. After the alerting guards, the lady tries to hide Miaka, but when Tamahome’s life is endangered Miaka begins to show herself and comes to Tamahome’s rescue. This change left my head spinning in disbelief. The guards get a hold of Miaka, infuriating Tamahome. The character on his forehead begins to glow, shocking the lady that befriended Miaka. The lady stops the guards and reveals herself as the Emperor of Konan. Everyone falls to their knees to bow down to the Emperor except for Miaka. After putting her hands in front of the Emperor’s chest, doing the grope check, Miaka discovers that Hotohori is indeed a man! Hotohori brings Miaka in the castle and asks her to save Konan and become the Priestess of Suzaku. If she agrees, she is promised wishes from Suzaku. How can anyone refuse this offer? Miaka presents herself as the Priestess of Suzaku to everyone, who bows down in honor before her...
