A Big THANKS to all the Foster Parents

I am the creator of this website and I would like to share the following experience with you.

A very good friend of mine recently contacted me with the words "HELPPPPPP". She runs a rescue from her own home and was absolutely crammed full of strays when someone alerted her of 8 puppies that were due to be euthanized the next day. They had been abandoned by their owner and the Shelter had no room to take them in. My friend called me and after explaining the situation asked if I would be willing to foster them. I jumped at the opportunity. I already have 20 animals of my own, ( 21 if you include the goose that can't fly and has decided HERE is home now) hey, surely another 8 wouldn't make much difference!

That evening she brought the puppies to me - eight, three week old lab puppies with faces that would melt any heart. I had a place set up for them in the laundry room; milk replacement at the ready plus endless piles of newspaper. They wouldn't suck a bottle but did know how to suck on each other for comfort - that's when the first stress hit me.. awwww they must be missing their mum! Now I do admit I tend to be a little excessive compulsive at times AND no doubt it was self-inflicted work when I felt the need to replace the newspaper every time one of them peed or pooped, so needless to say I spent the entire evening up and down, up and down and okay, I admit it, I have had the pups for a week now and I'm still up and down either replacing newspaper or checking them out if one of them whines. Their bedding is washed daily (our laundry is piling up) and their eating bowls, meticulously scrubbed after every meal (don't think I’ve emptied our dishwasher in a week). Told you I was a little excessive!

Anyway, I guess the point of this story is to say that I have a whole new appreciation for those of you out there who foster pets. It not only takes up a lot of your time but can also be emotionally draining. I am so glad I have had the chance to give these little guys and gals a second chance of life and all that I wish is that they find wonderful loving homes for the rest of their lives. I will miss them dearly when they are gone and will I ever foster again - definately! I also hope that some of you will consider giving it a try. It is tiring but OH SO rewarding. Gotta run, someone just pooped in their bowl!
