Tom Nook:

Tom Nook has many purposes in Animal Crossing. He runs your town's shop, gets you a house, is the holder of the monthly raffle, buys turnips from you, and much much more!

When you first start the game, it is he greets you and shows you the vacant houses available for your town. After choosing one, you find yourself in debt to this raccoon! You are then forced to work in his shop, completing chores for him until you've payed off a little of your debt. After spending some time playing the game, you will eventually have payed off your debt to Nook. So, he offers you an extension to your house. He'll expand your main room, add a basement, and add an upstairs as well. However, by getting an extension, you'll also find yourself back in debt to him!

Selling you a house and upgrading it is just one of the things Tom Nook does. His main purpose in Animal Crossing is that he runs your local shop. At his shop, he sells you furniture, wallpaper, carpeting, tools, etc. But if you see something you want from his shop, make sure you buy it right away, because Tom Nook's selection of items changes every day! When you first start the game, Nook's store is just a small little shop, called Nook's Cranny. However, the more things you buy from Nook and sell to Nook, the bigger his shop will become. Over time, his shop will be upgraded, to Nook'N Go, Nookingtons, and then finally the two-story Nookingtons! But in order to have Tom Nook upgrade his store to Nookingtons, you will need another person to visit and buy something from his shop.

Tom Nook also does other things for you. He runs the monthly lottery where you have the chance to win rare items. He holds your catalog, which displays any and all items you've ever obtained, and allows you to buy almost all of them back, through shipping. He lets you tell him codes that you can use to obtain items. He lets you create a code for a friend's town. He paints your roof whatever color you would like. And he also tells you turnip prices for each day. So, it's safe to say that Tom Nook is one of the main characters in Animal Crossing.

Gracie:

Gracie is the hip fashion designer with a foxy attitude. She's the maker of the famous: "Gracie Brand" Shirts, known in Animal Crossing for their stunning beauty and complexity. But she won't just give you her special brand-name clothes. She wants you to work for them! When she drives into town in her fancy car, she finds that it's very dirty from the drive! Even though it looks clean to me... So, after she criticizes the clothing that you're wearing (how rude!), she wants you to wash her car as fast as you can!

You'll have ten seconds to press the A button as fast as you can to wash her car. But this is much harder than it sounds. She never seems satisfied with the job! If you press the A button fast, she'll say that you've done a so-so job, and she'll give you a piece of regular clothing. If you don't do it very fast, she'll snicker at you and give you nothing! But, if you can somehow slam the A button down extremely fast, her car will sparkle brightly, and she'll reward you with her own unique designs! The best way to get the "Gracie Brand" clothing is to take a pen, and rub the cap of it against the A button quickly. This pushes the A button down very rapidly.

Gracie's designs are well worth the effort too. The patterns on them are very unique, and would be very difficult to make on your own. You can get animal shirts like leopard skin, and you can even recieve the shirt that Gracie wears herself!

Saharah:

Saharah is a camel that has traveled a long ways to get to your town. She's a door-to-door salesman, and she's selling her rare arsenal of carpets that she keeps in her sack. But since Saharah has traveled a long ways to get to your town, she won't just sell you these carpets for cheap.

When Saharah comes to your town, she will want a lot of things from you in exchange for her rare carpets. She tells you that she wants to do a "trade-in" for one of her rare carpets. You give her one of your old carpets, and some money, and she gives you a rare carpet in return. However, she wants 2,000 bells! But unlike many other special characters, Saharah tells you the carpet she's going to give you in exchange, and you can back out of the deal if you don't like what carpet she is offering. If you would like, you can keep talking to her, and keep agreeing to her "trade-ins", until she offers you a carpet that you are interested in owning. These carpets are all unique, and can only be recieved through her!

Also note that you can get as many carpets from Saharah in just one visit. If you'd like, and if you have enough carpets to trade, you may try to get all of her rare carpets through "trade-ins" with just one visit. However, every time you wish to do a new "trade-in", you must pay her double the bells she asked for last time! So if you wanted a second carpet from her, you'd have to pay 4,000 bells! But once Saharah leaves and comes back again, her price will be back at her opening deal: 2,000 bells. So, it's better to just get one or two carpets from Saharah per visit, as you'll save a lot of money.

Timmy and Tommy Nook:

Timmy and Tommy Nook are Tom Nook's nephews. Tom Nook hires these two to help run his shop after he turns his shop into Nookington's, the biggest shop in the game. So, since Nookington's is so big, Tom Nook decided to put these two in charge of the upstairs. This is a large job for two little raccoons! The upstairs of Nookington's is the main section of the store, as it has all of the furniture, carpets, wallpaper, and clothing for sale. But these two do a great job for being so young! And since Timmy and Tommy are twin brothers, they like to do whatever the other is doing to get attention. So don't be surprised if you hear one of these two mimicking the other!
