What Is Animal Testing?

To put it simply animal testing is the testing of products, chemicals on animals to see whether it is suitable for humans to use. Your probably thinking that’s not bad right? I mean its helping humans so what's the problem? Your wrong, studies have shown that rabbits eyes, which are commonly used to test chemicals are nothing alike to humans eyes and therefore making this test inaccurate and pointless.

Animal testing has been around for years and just like many other issues in the world, not many people have known what really  goes on behind the scenes in the cosmetic industries. The most common animals tested on include rabbits, rats, guinea pigs and mice. This is because of there fast reproduction rate, the size they are and the low price that they normally cost.

Animal testing is currently LEGAL in Australia although this does not mean animals can be treated poorly. Animal testing is legal for the use of medical terms and/or if permission has been granted from the Australian government. (read more on page 22 of our magazine)

There is truly no other way of putting into terms the definition of Animal Testing, the only other thing we can say though is that
Animal testing is wrong, inhumane and we hope that in the future we see animal testing go first…..
before they do.
