AMBA is proud to report that Angus has produced some pretty
competitive teams! Our 2005 Angus T-Ball Team #1 and Midgets finished
second in the regular season. The Midgets won the Mid-season tournament
championship against Mansfield, who finished first in their division.
Last year was the first time that any players from Angus competed at the SOBA level. SOBA is the
Select Ontario Baseball Association,
which has two divisions. One is a dedicated loop and the other is a
tournament loop. Players wishing to play at the house-league level
(AMBA) and play at the SOBA level are only allowed to compete in the
tournament loop. Any players wishing to play in the dedicated loop are
not permitted by SSMBA to play in our house-league.
One player from our Tyke team tried out and made the SOBA tournament
team put together by Midland. Our Angus Midgets put a team together
with the Mansfield Midgets and did quite well!!
We called our team Mangus!
2005 Belleville SOBA Midget Tourney
At the Belleville SOBA Midget Tourney we played six games all weekend.
Mangus went to the final game and in extra innings, lost 4-1 to Oakville, last year's provincial champs.
What an amazing game!! Mangus
won every game except to Oakville, twice. It was very exciting and
Oakville indicated that it was the first time that they have seen any
real competition in years and look forward to seeing us again in 2006!
It was great to see the highest respect that these players gave to one another. Hats off to both Oakville and
Mangus!!!!
