Anglesey Rabbit Club

Our rabbit clubs shows are held at the village hall in Gaerwen. Here's a bit of history on Anglesey rabbit club.The Anglesey rabbit club was established only 9 years ago, in 1999. The founding members were Ben Williams, Daffydd "BUTCH" Williams and Ann Jones, Colin williams, Colin Jones, Cynrig Jones and Mark Day. They each put a sum of money into the club, this is how it was formed.  

The chairman of the club was Ben Williams, Daffydd Williams was like a show manager helping out with anything and everything. Ann Jones was the secretary and treasurer. The committee was made up of only a few local breeders only 3 of which are still on the committee today. 

In 2004 I took over as secretary and Carys Jones as treasurer. Ann decided to step down due to too many commitments. The show has gone onto to grow and grow. The numbers have gradually grown from 50 rabbits in 2004 to 170 rabbits which we had at our October show in 2007 to 191 in May 2008.

The present committee is small, made up of Ben Williams who is still Chairman, myself as secretary, my mum, Mark Day, Darren Bullock, David Lipski, Cynrig Jones and Phil & Enid Williamson.. In 2008 myself and my mum became joint treasurers.

On the 18th May 2008, we entertained the first stock shows to be held at Anglesey R.C for a long time. The Welsh Lop Circle and the Lancashire, Cheshire and North Wales Netherland Dwarf Circle. The show was shown a lot of support but because of the time of year, the entries were effected. Although the shows were still a fantastic success for all involved and as it went so well, we will be making this a recurring feature.

I would like to thank all of the Anglesey committee and all our members for making the show what it is today and I hope it continues to thrive and grow.
