Hi!

My name is Angelo. I work as a Knowledge Management Specialist for Accenture Services Pvt. Ltd. based out of their New Delhi office. I am a commerce graduate with an advanced certificate in computers from the National Institute of Information Technology (NIIT). Presently pursuing a Masters in Information Technology.

All through my professional career, spanning 7 years and 5 months, I have been fortunate enough to be exposed to varied forms of writing. Besides, I have also catered to profiles like onsite technical support and product marketing during my internship with an ISP major.

Knowledge Management

Incidentally, besides working on varied profiles, another fact that kind of keeps enthusing me each time is that I have always transitioned into roles that were not really known to the job seekers. It is only when I found myself working in the role that I realized that new companies are entering the foray and have openings for a similar-profiled new teams that they wish to setup. (I am being really modest here!)

Accenture has been doing Knowledge management since early nineties. In fact, I believe every organization does it without actually realizing the fact that the processes being followed to manage the stuff is actually a part of knowledge management. My work here primarily involves managing the Oracle engagement tracking database and keeping the Oracle practice updated with the latest in partner trainings and eSeminars (I serve the Oracle practice here!). Corporate communications in the form of newsletters and postcards also form a part of my monthly task list. Besides these, my monthly task list includes, portal updation, training curriculum updation, metrics calculation, training and delegating tasks to support teams.

Instructional Designing

My stint with writing started at NIIT's Knowledge Solutions Business division, as an Instructional Designer and Technical Content Developer. NIIT is the leading e-learning and content provider in Asia. We were authoring technical books that catered to US-based clients, such as the National Education and Training Group and ITT Technical Institute. We were also involved in generating Web- and CD-based training materials for the same customers.

The later half of my tenure with NIIT was devoted to Instructor-led training guides for esteemed clients, such as Microsoft and Peregrine Systems. The Microsoft Windows Servers 2003 assignment also offered me the opportunity to work on the Aspen Learning Management System (LMS).

I also got a chance to try my hands on at developing non-technical learning material for US-based school curriculum. For Harcourt, we were developing animated training kits.

Technical Documentation

While I worked as a writer in varied capacities, my focus was always on technical writing. My next employer offered me the opportunity to step into the technical writing domain. Impetus Technologies Inc. is an offshore development concern for various US-based customers. However, they also have an in-house product development division, which boasts of a report generation tool and a network surveillance application.

Again, being the sole technical writer at Impetus, was responsible for developing the following set of documentation for both the products:

Post-development, I was involved in the product testing to judge them on the UI, language, and usability front. The final stage of documentation involved presentations, brochures, whitepapers, and case studies, which were used for marketing the products globally.

Technical Editing

At Intersoft Data Labs, in addition to my work as a technical writer, I reviewed technical and business documents for language. Being the sole documenter, I was also responsible for the versioning and archival of the documents. Technical editing at Intersoft was a challenge, for it was my first project dealing with documentation and review of content pertaining to the financial domain.

At Intersoft, I developed all technical and business-related documentation and reporting templates. The teams also relied on me for graphic editing and miscellaneous support.

Business Documentation

My profile at Intersoft, also gave me the opportunity to do considerable amount of business-level documentation. Serving CitiFinancial involves obtaining varied levels of security and process certifications, such as BS7799 and CMMI. This effort involved generating multiple sets of business documentation fulfilling the requirements of each audit.

I along with the quality assurance team were dedicatedly involved at making these documents available to the auditors.

Content Development

I also undertook various content development assignments at my consecutive workplaces in the form of their corporate web sites. Impetus asked me to perform an exclusive testing and review of their web site and suggest any updates, which could be discussed with the MARCOM manager and then reflected with a dedicated Web designer at my disposal. Whereas Intersoft, being a startup organization, honored me with the challenge of creating a high-profile web site with a basic idea from the CEO himself.
