Holly

Hi, my name is Elizabeth (As you probably know) and I used to have a lovely hamster called Holly. This part is for her, if only she knew how much me and many other people miss her and love her.

She was a golded banded syrian hamster and simply melted mine and many other's hearts. She was ever so cute and always brought a smile to our faces. Everyone I knew loved her and wanted to stroke her and hold her.

She only lived 6 months, she died of a common hamster disease called Wet-Tail, first the hamster has diarrhoea and starts to lose fluids, then she stopped drinking her water and decreased in eating her food. Eventually she lost all her fluids and died of dehydration.

She was so weak on the last two days of her life, we all knew she had a low chance of surviving so we all said a sad Good Bye, then my dad sent her to the vets where she was put to sleep. She was a wonderful hamster, I loved her dearly and I always will til my own End.

After one very painful week of sorrow I realized I could get another hamster, I was still feeling sad about Holly but it lifted up my spirits. So went to a pet store and we found our way to the hamster section. I looked at them all, my smile not fading looking at each one.

I then saw one simply eating out of the food bowl. He looked just like Holly. There was this look about him that made me choose him. Since I had been looking at clouds all the way to the store I called him Cloud. He's a very fast, jumpy and nervous hamster but he's getting tamer and he's a lovely hamster.

When I look at Holly's picture upon my bedroom wall I feel as if Cloud was Holly's son I don't why, they just seem to fit. I shall not pick my favourite as I love them both and I thank God for making me pick the two hamsters that shone in my life so clearly.

Cloud is still alive and I'm sure he knows he's replaced a beloved hamster but of course he'll live up to be wonderful too!
