Career Start

She was Little Miss SM when a talent scout offered her the chance to do commercials. But before she could even appear in one print ad or TV commercial, the same talent scout told her she was going to appear in a movie.
The film turned to be "The Antipolo Massacre," produced by Golden Lions Films International and starring Cesar Montano and Dawn Zulueta. She played the role of Liezl Martinez' (who was featured in the movie) daughter. They were both massacred in the movie along with two other child stars who played her siblings.
It was in "Separada"-as Maricel Soriano and Edu Manzano's young daughter-where she won her first Famas award for best child actress. "Ang nakalaban ko noon," she says, "if I remember right, was Sunshine Dizon."
Golden Lions Films got her again to play Vilma Santos' daughter in the " Massacre."
Before she joined "Ang TV" and eventually became a Talent Center talent, she appeared in a Viva Films' movie, "Kadenang Bulaklak" as the young Donna Cruz. |

The ACTRESS
Angelica Panganiban
The child star has grown up, and she's still as sweet and angelic as her name suggests.
People who have avidly followed Angelica Panganiban's career remember her best from the tearjerker roles she played as a child actress, both in television and the movies. And she was good at it, too.
But it's been many years since her last "poor little girl" appearance. Before people realized it, Angelica grew up and became the delicate beauty that she is today. From her usual portrayal of aggrieved and vulnerable child, she has taken on the role of an adolescent going through her share of growing-up pains.
This 17-year old actress was only six years old when she broke into showbiz with weepy eyes and pigtails. She first signed up for the Little Miss SM competition where she won second runner-up and snagged the attention of talent scouts. Thereafter, Angelica appeared in a host of television commercials and the rest, as they say, is history.
Since then, Angelica has become a part of a long list of television shows --- from youth programs like "Ang TV," "Kaybol," "G-mik" and "Berks," to soap operas like "Kadenang Kristal," "Familia Zaragoza," "Sa Puso Ko Iingatan Ka," and most recently, "Mangarap Ka," where she plays the love interest of Piolo Pascual. She also has countless guest appearances to her credit, the most memorable of which is "Maalaala Mo Kaya" where she portrayed the role of the late teen star Julie Vega.
Her jump to the silver screen, on the other hand, started through a small role in "Antipolo Massacre." From then on, she landed priceless projects, including major roles in memorable films like "Sarah, Ang Munting Prinsesa," the Maricel Soriano starrer, "Separada," "Ama, Ina, Anak," "Ang Pulubi at ang Prinsesa," "Hanggang Kailan Kita Mamahalin," at "Tanging Ina."
Clearly this young actress is a talent to reckon with, a fact that was affirmed by various award-giving bodies in the industry. Today, Angelica has a shelf lined up with Best Child Actress trophies from Famas for "Separada" and from Star Awards for "Sarah, Ang Munting Prinsesa." She also bagged the "Most Popular Young Actress" title from the Guillermo Mendoza Memorial Foundation.

Did You Know That…….
Angel played the young DONNA CRUZ in Kadenang Bulaklak many years back?
She is an only child and resort to her cousins for that much-needed company. Naturally, when her cousin left for states, Angel was lonelier than ever. But in a year's time, her cousins will head back home for their Angel's 18th birthday.
Angel had a hard time internalizing for her dramatic roles until her cousins left. "Nang umalis sila, balik na naman ako sa pag iyak na parang gripo"she muses.
She was a part of cheering squad in high school that won on their intramurals
Angels is also a member of editorial staff of the school organization. Aha! That's probably one factor that lured her to take mass communication.
Cockroaches give her the chills
She loves munching down french fries and Friend Chicken
Angel loves morning."Masarap kasi ang simoy ng hangin sa umaga, parang ang sarap gumising kasi ayaw mong ma- miss yung ganda ng morning."
She can't live without her cellphone
The two things she's addicted to do is texting and sleeping
Angel is trustworthy. She swears she keep somebody's secret forever
She loves showbusiness primarily because its a lucrative job. But dont take it as sign of being material girl because she uses all her earnings to help the family...generosity is noble and Angel has that added feature! |

What Directors and Writers Says About Angel!!!!!
Direk Laurice was overheard asking friends and colleagues, “O ano, didn’t I tell you, she’s a star?” (Star Studio December Issue)
(Star Studio December Issue)
Ricky Lo said: “For me, she will be 2005’s important star. Perfect timing ‘yung movie niya in preparation for stardom. May nakita sa kanya si Laurice. Angelica can be sexy but the acting is still there, just like Rosanna Roces and Jaclyn Jose.” (December Issue of Star Studio Magazine)
(by Allan Diones of Abante-Tonite, in the Mano Po 3)
Pati acting ng young stars na kasama ko rito like Angelica Panganiban, Patrick Garcia, Angel Locsin, Karylle, and the others, puro mahuhusay lahat. I'm glad I was given the chance to work with them." (Vilma Santos)
Angelica Panganiban: This lass can bawl like there's no tomorrow so she's just okay. (By James Gabrillo, in the Mano Po 3 as Lilia Chiong)
Napakaganda ni Angelica Panganiban as the young Vilma Santos at mahusay na rin talaga siyang umarte. (by Nel Alejandrino)
Santa Santita marked the transition of Angelica from juvenile star to serious actress, heretofore willing and able to portray adult roles. Another Hilda Koronel, indeed. (Ricky Lo)
As the movie's santa-santita, Panganiban gives us a protagonist we could watch without ever losing interest. She goes from being the subject of autoerotic pasttimes to somebody who shares the stigmata experience of Francis of Assisi and Padre Pio without ever quite transcending the nuances of her true nature. She doesn't take the usual sinner-to-saint route but struggles throughout, thus making her character more believable. (By Ruben Cruz)
Angelica Panganiban, baby fats and all, shows much intelligence as an actress and is thoroughly convincing as the conflicted Malen.(By Mario Bautista)
In her quiet moments, Panganiban is a vision to behold, a face cameras are wont to fall in love with. Often compared with Hilda Koronel, Panganiban reminds one more of a young Marlene Dauden, lovely and perfect in crying scenes. (TITO VALIENTE)
Happily, with Guillen's guidance, Angelica comes through with (quietly) flying thespic colors, hitting all the highs and lows that her complex character has to go through in her desperate quest for meaning and salvation. More to the point, Angelica doesn't only hit the right dramatic marks as per her director's instructions, but she also makes her role her own, adding her own involvement, commitment, empathy and insights. How gratifying to see two actors as young as Angelica and Jericho come into their own as luminous and compelling thespians. With "Santa Santita," they have truly arrived. (By Nestor Torre)
