My Son's Story

My son Andrew was born with a diseased kidney and no second kidney.  He has been on and off medication for his entire life to keep his kidney under control as much as possible, but we have recently found out that his kidney is shutting down (that bit of news came to us in time for his 22nd birthday) and his transplant will be needed by this Christmas.  Needless to say, Andrew has been sick most of his life whether needing IV fluids for a bout of the flu to the most recent illness of pneumonia prior to being told that he was in kidney failure.  His 19 year old sister, Rose, is a match and will be involved in saving her brother's life.   Andrew has dreamed of being an actor since he was a very young child. Before even pre-school age he would fall in the middle of the floor just to get me to laugh.  He's always been a real character.  In second grade he performed Heartbreak Hotel, imitating Elvis at a talent show for the school that he was attending.  During his teen years, he joined a group of aspiring actors associated with a Boy Scout troop and often performed the lead role in most of the plays.  He reminded me of a young Jerry Lewis as lead role in the play, "An Actors Nightmare." We have many tapes of several performances.  He also won several best actor awards.  He even played Prince Charming in "Cinderella."   He has a very difficult time facing him and just really needs some sort of break in all this chaos.  Guess I just really love my son and am reaching out to any one for help.
