To begin I must create a surface. As seen in the first two pictures I use a thicker, more durable type of paint to create textures. Once the texture is dry, which can take several months depending on thickness, I will begin to apply paint. Paint is applied generously, in which I use various techniques to create a smooth-finished look. I begin then, to implement glazing techniques that can take several weeks to dry. This helps to build depth to the work it self. Lastly as the work dries I study it and add those final "artistic" touches to complete the piece.
In order from top to bottom, you can see in the first two pictures use of heavy texture being built and drying. The following picture exemplifies the beginning of applying the actual color. The fourth picture demonstrates the glazing method in its drying state. In this picture you can actually see the shift in color as the opacity (white milky areas) dries to clear finish. The filth photograph shows the painting nearly dry, with some added techniques. At the bottom of the page, you can see the final product.
