Ancient Records was primarily set up to release the debut album of Memory Cells, 'Night', in 2000 and was at that time owned and operated by the members of the band; Stephen Rennicks, Anthony Carroll and Adrienne Flynn. Begun with high hopes and runs of 500 - 1000 CDs with colour booklets that era came swiftly to a close with the demise of the group just over one year later. The label was resurrected by Stephen in 2004 for the release of his debut album as Secret Society but with the emphasis of the label changing towards short run CDR releases more due to financial necessity than desire. With Stephen now solely at the helm a string of Secret Society releases predictably came out up to 2005 and this stream shows no sign of abating. But since this time the label has begun working with other artists, so far only on the Moment Series project, but this has whetted the appetite to bring out the new music of others and anyone is welcome to submit their music on any format for consideration for future release.
