Details: The setup of this night couldn't be more simple. Grab 4 mates and prepare yourselves for a whirlwind evening of romance, charm, intrigue and ultimately, crippling embarrassment. The whole of Nottingham is besieged by groups of students all intending to meet their perfect match. 5 boys are paired up with 5 girls, in a variety of bars and nightclubs, where you'll proceed to speed date, and get to know your group as well as possible. The evening culminates in several clubs where you can either smooch your new found love, or alternatively hide in the toilets from the monster who has decided you are the love of their life. A chance to see your mates trying out their cheesy lines, and a great way to meet new people from other parts of the uni. 5 go dating is a night not to be missed.

Details: 'Mr and Miss Ancaster' are two of the funniest events in the Karni Calendar. Those who are brave enough to nominate themselves as possible candidates will face a vigorous examination on stage in front of all their peers. The competition is broken down into several rounds, all focused upon testing the nerve, drinking ability and general capacity for humiliating oneself in front of an audience. Some of the occurrences of last years events have lived long in the memory, lets hope this year can live up to the billing.
Details: The winners of Mr. and Miss Ancaster automatically qualify for the University competition to determine the top male and female fresher. It may seem a grand task to humiliate yourself in front of your own hall, but it is obviously a far greater feat to do it in front of the whole university! Details: Tonight Matthew I am going to be.....................! We have all heard those magic words uttered and we all know the spine-tingling effect they have on a baying crowd. Quite simply, the jewel in ITV's Saturday Night Scheduling Crown comes to Ancaster. Last year's show saw the regeneration of such hits as 'Ring of Fire' by Johnny Cash, 'Snooker Loopy' by the inimitable Chaz and Dave, an emotional instrumental version of 'YMCA' by the village people, and perhaps most significantly the eventual winner, 'I Drove All Night' by Cindy Lauper. It is hard to express how entertaining this musical extravaganza can be. This night has the power to transform a lesser known individual from hall into a hero in little over 2 and a half minutes. Karni is obviously about charity and the helping of others, but I would argue that with regards to this event, charity takes a back seat. Music is the winner tonight ladies and gentleman, and everyone's invited.
Details: The auction of promises is an opportunity to bid for a person and then do whatever you wish with them for one whole day. The candidates up for auction are usually members of the JCR, Karni Reps and other notable members of the hall. If a whole day is too much for you, then you can ask the person you have bought to perform something in front of the audience instead.
Details: Whatever happens at the Snowflake Ball it is destined to be an emotional and extraordinary evening. It is perhaps best not to say too much. The event's reputation leads to a mystique that speaks for itself. Quite simply, make sure your ticket is booked and that your outfit is ready.
