The three somatotypesendomorphic, mesomorphic, and ectomorphicare basic classifications of animal body types for the farmers to see how good there cows were, if the were Endomorphic they were too fatty and needed to build up muscle, by exersize, if they were ectomorphic, then they were to skinny and needed fattening up to create more muscle, and if they were mesomorphic they had enough muscle and were sent to the slaughter house where they were killed for there steaks.

Ectomorphic body type is characterized by long arms and legs and a short upper body, and supposedly have a higher level of nervous tissue. They also have long and thin muscles. Ectomorphs usually have a very low fat storage; therefore they are usually referred to as skinny. An example would be an élite marathon runner.
