The Poetry of Rory

Foods’ Getting Cold
(a sonnet)

as she prepares the main course and he the salad
sharing sips of champagne along with a love ballad
the aroma wetting their appetites as the food slowly simmers
slow dancing in each others arms beneath the candle lights shimmer
gentle kisses up and down her neck much to her delight
absorbing warm glow of certainty that emanates from his eyes
fully immersed in the flow, harmony, and synchronicity
expressions from the depths of their souls, this giving and believing
where once before, neither knew such a love could possibly exist
now these moments they are living can only be described as PERFECT
a closeness beyond close heightening their awareness
the meal won’t be consumed as deep into each other they stare
