Now Playing..:
+ Sweet Nostalgia +
I'm still keeping the Santa NANA pic up, because it is still snowing for me. And, I just realized.. I don't have any artists beginning with 'Q'. aww..
Well Hello!!! It's about high time I brought you that rotation I promised, I know. Finally: the semi-sweet, sad and nostalgic theme. Too bad with this first mood request rotation, I must bring the news that I need to pause rotating any more big mp3 batches for a while—gotta get my work done as priority. However, I'll still be updating AMOJI's other pages here and there. and if you really really really want a specific mp3, I wouldn't mind uploading it for you. Now, on with the songs:
Starting off with J-pop already? Well yes. Although this song isn't the typical J-pop, with her mature vocals and background guitar. There's a few more in here, as well as others that may surprise you. Give all the songs a listen; there's quite a variety [as always].
Surprise! If you didn't know, I had recently caught the Big Bang fever, and am still under their spell. Although they are generally K-pop/hip hop, they also have R&B songs like these. I warn you, they are super catchy, especially given that their hit songs that would stay in your head for weeks.
Surprise again! Not what you'd normally expect from Dir en grey. But I suppose every "metal" band has their piano moments. This is one of my favorite short pieces, and is actually currently my voicemail tune. It sounds clean, though sad; bitter though pretty.
If singing repeatedly "amai, amai" (which means sweet) doesn't invoke some level of emphatic feeling, well.. I don't know. I really like this song, and considering that I don't like H&MC all that much, that should say something.
One of my favorite Jay Chou songs; from his stage of originality. I mean, the title means "rice fields" (as opposed to some sort of sucker love song) and is about the implications of urbanization. And yes, I love the yodel of the cow herder.
Do you recognize her voice from some Epik High songs? (She's in "One" and "Paris"). And this song, sounds so f-in sorrowful. Of course, who else makes a better show of the "leave me, but I love you" drama than Koreans?. T.T
For some reason I thought this was an anime song (because it felt like one of those happy, simple village theme songs where kids would stand along side a hill and play in the rolling grass and breeze). The string instrumental also adds to that rustic feel, and it's such a pretty song overall.
I saw this group live two months ago. I wasn't expecting to see them, but considering that they work closely with Jay Chou, and that it was a Jay Chou concert, it was very fitting. Especially when the girl vocalist could speak fluent English. She's really cute! But she has that really high, animated Asian voice that irks me sometimes. Anyways. This is their single (translated to Daybreak) with a cool enough video. Oh! Did I mention that the competing pianist from the movie Secret is in this band?
From their last single. T.T -ahem- *wipes away tears*. Although this is one of their newer compositions, it still retains their "Rentrer en Soi" essence (as in, it's not strikingly wannabe Dir en grey). It has a remorseful tone, especially with that guitar melody in the background. And Satsuki's voice is screech-less, enviable and beautiful.
In case you were wondering about the high-pitched "girly" voice I am annoyed by, here's one example. (Ayumi Hamasaki would be another, but this vocalist doesn't sound nearly as piercing). Just a little nasally, a little fake, but the song as a whole isn't so bad. A decent J-pop piece.
Thought I'd throw in some acousitc guitar here in the midst of the three piano pieces. This guy is a geniune masterful guitarist (who's in the band B'z). If I were to travel too much and miss my warm, happy home, this is the song without words I would be feeling.
Another atypical song from a rock band. No heavy screaming, pounding drums and wild guitars; this is more of a ballad—well, a rock/UnsraW ballad. Careful, in case the vocals are to emotionally raw for you.
I just listened to their entire album that contains their hit single Everything You Want, and found that all the songs were pretty good. So, I'm sharing with you this one that has a more sentimental feel (since they're generally an optimistic band).
Oh this brings back memories. If it's not nostalgic for you, it is for me. I first heard this maybe 5 years ago? I think it came out in 2002. I love how her voice blends with the guitars. It's what a lot ofthe current female vocalist bands are missing; their voices are ostensibly high whereas this song sung by Bana just flows—in a saddened kind of way.
I think this song was meant to make you cry. At least, if you're a hide fan. Nevertheless, it's very remorseful. The piano and the whispers in the background all add to that. Yeah.. it's a long song.
If you haven't heard this piece, you are out of the loop. It's gained popularity for being an absolutely beautiful piano composition. Played delicately and emotionally, you really need to listen to this already.
