Purchaser Responsibilities:
1. Puppies sold as PETS on Limited Registration are not to be used for breeding, and are required to be spayed/neutered before reaching puberty. Neutering males as young as your vet feels it is safe, greatly reduces behavioral problems that may occur after your boy reaches puberty.
2. Complete the vaccination series as recommended by Dr. Dodds DVM. An additional parvo shot at 20 weeks of age in areas with frequent parvo outbreaks (the south, Arizona, California) . Do not vaccinate for Lepto until 16 weeks of age, and do not vaccinate for Lepto at the same time other vaccinations are given. Vaccinate for Lepto only if your puppy is at risk, discuss risk factors with your DVM. Lepto may cause serious adverse reactions.
3. Keep your puppy groomed, which includes routine preventive ear cleaning and tooth brushing. Dogs can die from both ear and tooth infections if the bacteria gets into the bloodstream (septicemia), into the tissues around the heart or into the brain. Skin infections can occur from lack of grooming, and if untreated, can become systemic.
4. Isolate your puppy from unvaccinated dogs and dog buisy areas until puppy is FULLY vaccinated. (wait 2 weeks after final vaccination) Do not put your puppy on the ground at the airport!
5. ID puppy with collar and tag, microchip or a tattoo. Do not allow your puppy to roam at large. Supervise puppy when it is outdoors.
6. Be proactive in training. Puppy kindergarten or obedience class is highly recommended.
7. Supervise puppy when young children are present.
8. Feed a premium DRY food. Avoid foods that contain gleuten, corn, beet pulp, soy, brewers rice, poultry fat. Use a food in which meat is the #1 ingredient and look for foods with multiple meat sources. Recommendations: Call of the Wild, Eagle Pack Holistic, Nutro Puppy Ultra, Eukenuba Puppy.
9. If ever you can keep your puppy, the puppy will not be re-sold or given away to a third party without my approving such a third party. The breeder retains right of first refusal. If puppy has an AKC FULL registration status failure to comply with this term shall result in a penalty of $500.00 ($1000.00 if dog is a champion of record.) plus cost associated with legal remedy, for damages associated with loss of control of kennel name and bloodline. Health guarantees are non-transferable to third parties.
10. If at any time the breeder finds that puppy is living in an abusive or neglectful situation, the breeder may refund the purchase price and immediately take the puppy back into her possession and you agree to cooperate and not contest such repossession. You herein agree that living chained up to a dog house outdoors or crate confined 24/7 is abuse and you will not subject this puppy to such treatment.
11. If used for breeding purposes, eyes will be CERF examined annually, will only be bred to equal or better quality dogs of the same breed, and no stud service or selling of offspring of this puppy to persons whom hold any type of broker, vendor, dealer or commercial license pertaining to breeding and/or selling of dogs; failure to comply with this term shall result in a penalty of $500.00 per occurrence, plus cost from legal remedy, for damages due to loss of control of kennel name and bloodline.
12. If purchased as a show prospect (indicated in heading above), you herein agree to maintain the dog in proper condition, and to show the dog to the best of your ability. This does not mean you have to employ a professional handler, but that you will at the least make reasonable efforts. The puppy shall not be used for breedng until it is a champion or reasonable efforts have been made and breeder excuses the purchaser from further efforts to show the puppy. If you purchase the dog as a show prospect and make no reasonable attempt to title it, the health guarantee shall be null and void, and the breeder retains the right to refund the purchase price (no shipping) or 75^% of the purchase price if no longer in show coat, and may demand imediate return of the puppy and it's AKC paperwork. We do understand that sometimes a dog is not successful in the show ring due to issues beyond the purchasers control, but we do ask that in having granted the purchaser with an excellent specimen on the basis of purchaser requesting a show prospect, then we request that the effort to show be made. In the event the bite goes undershot or wry, the dog grows more than 1/2" over the breed standard, is too small, or excessively blows heat from heat cycle (coat otherwise in excellent condition), upon documentation by a handler or examination in person, we herein agree to r release tje purchaser from further efforts of showing the dog and the health guarantee remains fully effective. While we promise that a puppy is "show quality" at the time it is delivered to a purchaser, we can not guarantee that the puppy will continue to develop as show quality and not develop any serious flaws such as a bad bite, however, at our discretion which heavily depends on both the fault involved and the purchasers sincerity and effort to title a show prospect, we may replace the puppy at no charge, except for health certificate and shipping expenses for the replacement puppy. If puppy earns a championship, you agree to provide breeder with a copy of the show photo and allow breeder to publish such photo on our "Happy Tail's" portion of breeder's website.
13. If sold on a FULL registration, the registered name is to contain the Am-Erica's kennel name. The breeder will register the puppy in the name of the purchaser as soon as the puppy has been paid for. The purchaser is required to pay the registration fee in advance to the breeder. If the name is 30 spaces or less, the AKC registration fee is $20. If 31-50 spaces, the AKC registration fee is $30 This term does NOT apply to puppies sold as pets on limited registration. Pet purchasers may name their puppy as they desire.
We have read and agree to all the terms of this puppy purchase agreement on this the ___ day of ________________, 20 ____.
