UPDATE 04/21/2007:  I am now living in Durand, IL which is about 20 miles outside of Rockford.  Not a single person has contacted me regarding the club or the site.  This is very unfortunate as of 2 years ago, we had 12 people interested in AMC's that lived fairly close to each other.  I was getting real phonecalls from other clubs and people actually holding events asking us to attend.

There will be a HUGE AMC show in Kenosha the end of July 2007.  There should be close to 500 AMC's there and about 100 vendors.  If you are interested, check out http://www.amonationals.com.  Then click on Upcoming Events on the right side of the page.  I will be attending this event....I will be AMCless, but I will still be there.

Our very own club member Laura Hallstrom took Best Ride at Big M Motorfest this past weekend!  Congrat Laura!

The main purpose of our club is to get the few AMC lovers in the Memphis area together.  It is hard enough sometimes to get help on our cars, let alone finding parts.  That can be a nightmare in itself.  Wouldn't it be great to talk AMC and meet other AMCers at the local cruise night?  To drive to the cruise night, all arriving at the same time with a pack of 5 or 10 AMC's?  Talk about making a statement.  Not only that, we can back eachother up for the nay-sayers of AMC.  My 68 Javelin gets alot of attention since noone knows what it is.   I would also like to have a 'meeting' if you call it that, once every other month.  Nothing formal, just a night of taking over a Sonic and getting to know eachother.

No.  AMC of Memphis is not affiliated with any other AMC club.  This club is not to take away from other clubs and what they do for the hobby.  I encourage people to join other AMC clubs.  Noone is discrimated against and no other club will be brought into the picture.  It is for us.....the AMC drivers of Memphis. 

If you don't own an AMC and are just interseted in them.....yes, you can join.  Don't be afraid to ask questions if you're just learning about AMC's.  The only way to learn is to ask.  Besides, if I didn't ask questions at one time, I wouldn't be doing this right now.  You can also join if you own anything AMC related from 1902 - 1988.  'Other' make cars are not welcome to join as this is to be for us AMCers.

I know you're wondering....what does it cost to join?  Well......it's FREE!  That's right.....FREE!  There shouldn't be a charge for a hobby we all love.  It costs enough to maintain our cars, let alone join another club!  We may not have the big shows and give out t-shirts and do all the things other clubs do, but, we're FREE!   If there is a point and time where we want to become a 'formal' club, we can charge membership dues at that time.  It would be a group decision and not just one person.  So, what do you have to lose? 

Joining is the easy part!  You can either email me Mike Serpe at amcofmemphis@midsouth.rr.com, call me at (901) 379-9864.  From there I will email or send you a form to fill out.  The purpose of the form is just to keep track of who has joined the club and to keep you informed of any upcoming events we may want to attend and things of that nature.  Maybe even once every few months, after enough people have joined, I will try to send out a letter updating everyone about other club members projects.
