Ambigram is latin, 'ambi' meaning both, 'gram' meaning word. As a result, an ambigram is a word that is crafted so that is legible both the right way up, and upside down! Naturally there are variations; the word can be a different word upside down, or the same word or different word at a different angle.

I found out about the art of ambigramology by reading the bestseller 'Angels and Demons' by Dan Brown; it is a story about the Illuminati, a world organisation that is the nemesis of the Catholic Church, satanic cult and could possibly be ruling controlling all the major governments in the world! But you can leave the fear and paranoia to the mad texans who go on the tele and shout about how were are being controlled by this secret organisation. Back to the book: the artwork of John Langdon, proffessional ambigramologist, was used to illustrate branding irons of the Illuminati (which do not exist). The art in 'Angels and Demons' includes Earth, Air, Fire and Water. I would recomed going to John Langdon's website or searching for ambigrams in a search engine.
