I am EXCITED to offer an opportunity to reach Children (Grades K-12), the future Avian caretakers of Tomorrow.
Now YOU can open this world to your students and give your Children something to remember and inspire them to learn more about Aviculture!

Contact me via Email, if you would like to schedule a Hands on Classroom Presentation, which would consist of the following topics:

About the Rainforest:
Through a live bird presentation, children of all ages will be amazed as they experience the beauty of the rainforest. This presentation captures a picture that not only explains what the rainforest is like, but what creatures live there and why it is so amazing and important. I will encourage questions to gain an interest in this fragile habitat.
Avian Care: Learn the responsibilities needed in having a companion bird in your home and how to properly care for it. Know how to research what species is suitable for your home and lifestyle, along with proper feeding, husbandry, engaging playtime, including emotional needs.
Hear about: Awareness of certain problems companion birds may encounter such as; feather plucking, screaming, biting, or phobia, and why they might do this and what you can do to help.
Character Traits: Relate and learn how character can apply to our feathered friends. Respect, Responsibility, Caring, and Trustworthiness, go hand in hand when dealing with birds. Let the children learn how they can apply it to themselves, other people, animals/creatures, and the environment too.
Hands on Projects: Have the kids learn how to hand make bird toys to enrich proper stimulation for a companion bird. (Optional project- sign up required) *Toys will be donated to a reliable Parrot Rescue*
Watch short digital video clips: Enjoy the antics of a particular breed, the African Grey Parrot. Laugh and be amused at how smart they are. For a demonstration of a couple video clips and info of what she has learned to say and games I play with my Super Birdie, meet Akeela!
Also included is Teacher/Director resource information sheets. This will contain kid friendly website links about the Rainforest which may include a Teacher page for additional lessons and projects, a list of Books pertaining to the Rainforest or Parrots, several activity sheets (printed proof copies- all you need to do is copy for your classroom) such as; Parrot Anatomy/Skeleton diagram (with Teacher answer diagram), specific Parrot species to color, Vocabulary list of words pertaining to the presentation, map print-out so kids can color label each Rainforest and the location.

DON'T MISS OUT ON THIS GREAT OPPORTUNITY FOR SUCH A RARE PROGRAM IN OUR COMMUNITY!!
Always, a portion of any funds received will be donated to a reliable Bird Rescue to help benefit birds who are abused, mistreated, or neglected due to lack of public education about the care required of owning birds. There are many birds out there in these rescues that need responsible caretakers to give them a second chance at a loving home. This program helps public awareness of this need and the need to educate ones self before aquiring any bird. My goal in any presentation is not only for Children - our future avain caretakers, but for adult bird education as well. Having that crutial knowledge not only helps the bird thrive well emotionally and nutritionally, but for the caretaker to have a loving bonding relationship with their companion.
As a bird owner and researcher in the Avian world, I have hands on training of my own and also direction with my Bird Behaviorist, Michelle Karras (The Polite Parrot) to understand the emotional needs of a Companion Parrot. With great success from her, research, and my own natural abilities to care for parrots, I have successfully been able to share my joy and need to educate children. This excitement is exactly what I want to share with Children, as most have not seen live Parrots or what their needs are to have them thrive well in our home. It takes great Responsibility in caring for these magnificent creatures and something every child needs to hear, so they too, can learn the Respect these animals deserve.
As a former Children's Church Director for our Wednesday night program consisting of around 75 kids/workers and also served in our Sunday Kids Worship, I feel I have much experience in relating and communicating with Children. I believe Children are our future and we must invest in them now as mentors and facilitators to encourage them in their dreams and goals.
The passion behind me is the will to share this desire to teach Children and People alike, the growing need for future Aviculturists, Parrot facts and education about birds before one is purchased. There are many many parrots today in need of homes in Parrot Rescues due to the fact that they were bought on impulse and not researched into before hand, which results in improper care and behavioral problems that cause them to loose their homes. If I can make a difference in sharing my knowledge and prevent this from happening then I will have served my purpose and maybe just saved a delicate Parrot from having to experience the heartache of being mistreated, abused, or rehomed.
