All Alzheimer Glowers welcome you to our 2006 - "2006 Glow-1"
Dementia may eclipse all of our lives...
but the bonds of our love and the
brilliance within each of us glows
and goes on forever...

2006 is the 100th anniversary of Dr. Alois Alzheimer discovering the plaques
and tangle traits of Alzheimer’s disease.
Starting this year (2006) we want to draw awareness to our group called ‘Alzheimerglowers’.
We are the Canadian (and world wide) unpaid, primary caregivers who support 97% of those
with Dementias. We are the brilliant multifaceted colours of perpetual energy that unselfishly
and silently sacrifice our health, time and lives to fight for value, hope, dignity, respect,
compassion and human rights for all those afflicted with dementias.
We primary caregivers reach out to share our torches of experience with each other to light
each other’s journeys as we suffer watching the minds of those afflicted slowly eclipse into a
permanent abyss of darkness.
We merely ask that you do not 'forget to remember'.
Please string multicolored lights on your home to spotlight the challenges of dementias and our
struggles as primary care givers. We do not ask for anything other than you ‘Come glow with us’
at 8 p.m. local time on October 1st to place the spot light on dementias and light up our lives
so we know you care about the carers who may one day, just be caring for you.
Thank you!

The moon looks on...

As long as...
As long as we dare to share our triumphs and tears…
As long as we remember to play, we will laugh…
As long as we challenge fear with courage…
As long as we face the darkness with faith…
As long as we love and let our hearts embrace…
As long as we trust to express our grief…
As long as we hug and hold each others hands…
As long as we care - we will glow…
And light the way for each other.

The mulifaceted lights of dementia reflecting on our lives...
I looked up at the sky tonight and saw a big round orange moon and stars that looked
like millions of sparkling diamonds. The brightest diamond was shining in the east.
The vastness of the heavens reminded me that we are small, young and life is so brief
compared to the universe. However each one of us is special as we are guided and
comforted through the darkness of adversity. Our burdens can be lessened and our
suffering consoled through our faith in knowing that dawn will come and our road
of uncertainty will diminish in the brilliant orb of light that rises - to the east.
