Treeless Saddle Pads

Padding is a vital part of making a treeless saddle work for you - I have found that most "treeless" problems are actually "padding" problems!

Most manufacturers have a pad that they recommend for use with their saddle. Your saddle warranty may be void if you use the saddle with a pad other than that recommended by the manufacturer or distributor of your saddle.

What you will find on this page is a list of saddle pads which should work under a treeless saddle. If you use something different with success, please let me know about it! :)

Gotreeless.com has a list of pads suitable for use under the Torsion and similar saddles. These are the Medi Cheval, Torsion pads, Equitex, Mattes sheepskin pads, Equipedic, Supracor, Dixie Midnight, Skito and the Saddleright.

Grandeur is recommended for the Barefoot, but there is again no reason why it cannot be used under most treeless saddles.

Trekker make their own saddle pad.

Freeform have various pads that they deem suitable for use with the saddles.

The Suber pad has been tested with Freeform and HM Flexion saddles with success.

The Supracor pad helps distribute weight as well as providing non-slip qualities.

If saddle slipping is your worry, you can use a Limpet, Impakt or NEW pad under your treeless. Gel Eze pads have been successfully used under the HM Flexion.

Even traditional pads like the Prolite Relief pad have been successfully used, in conjunction with other pads, to gain more wither clearance.

It is possible to use Western saddle pads with treeless saddles, as long as they are not too small for the saddle.

If you have a treeless saddle with a gullet, you have much more scope for experimentation, as you can use a pad with a centre seam, providing the seam tucks into the gullet and doesn't drag on the horse's spine.
