Summer Riding Camp - 2008

 Almost Heaven Farm has been in business for over 40 years with Ann Fitzgerald as owner and instructor and over the past 8 years she has brought her daughters, Karen & Meghan in to teach along with her.

We feel that our length of time in the horse industry has given us a special advantage to help young riders become competent and self-confident riders, with emphasis on horsemanship and overall horse care.

Special attention is given to develop safe and correct riding habits. Personal growth and self-confidence are stressed through activities involving horses and riding. We encourage progress from the beginning through the more advanced forms of riding.

 
The camp program is a one to one horse to rider ratio, with 2 instructors on premises at all times.

 

Daily camp activities include:

- Riding lessons                    - grooming

- Tacking                                 - feeding

- Trail training                      - horse care

- Stable management          -Horse Show peperation

- Basic Problem Horse Solving/Ground Manners

- 4-H Horsemanship Skills testing

 Special activities may include gymkhana/games on horseback and theme days.  We plan to have a vet come and speak to the kids and new for 2008 we will go on a field trip during the week to a local breeding farm or rescue organization.

 Campers must be at least 7 years old and must have an approved riding helmet and riding boots. They should bring chaps, riding pants or jeans to ride in. In addition they need to bring shorts, sneakers, bathing suit and a towel, water bottle and lunch. Snacks and extra water will be provided. Camp time is 9:00 am to 3:30p m; we encourage parents to have campers at the farm approx. 15-20 to be ready to ride at 9:00 sharp. Before & after camp care available, please make arrangements with a counselor.

While I am aware that Almost Heaven Farm’s first consideration is safety, I also realize that the element of risk cannot be eliminated entirely in any program of physical activity involving horses. I agree that I will hold Almost Heaven Farm and/or it’s employees blameless from any consequences of my child’s involvement in the activities of camp. My child has my permission to attend any and all activities conducted by the camp, including offsite field trips. If I do not want my child to go offsite for a field trip or would prefer driving my own child, I will speak to the instructors of AHF Camp and work out an arrangement. I understand that drop-off is between 8:30 and 9:00 am and that pickup is between 4:00 and 4:30 pm. If I cannot make those times work in my schedule, I will speak to the instructors to make special arrangements. Any horses being brought in for camp may be dropped off the Sunday before the start of camp and picked up either Friday or Saturday after camp.

Please send a $75 deposit for each session, make checks payable to:  Ann Fitzgerald.   Checks can be mailed or given to her directly.  Deposits due no later than 1 week prior to session start. Family/Sibling discount offered, please ask for information.
