52nd Annual Squires Convention

On Friday-Sunday June 2-4 our circle, attended the 52nd annual squires convention. We had a blast and can not wait until next year. This year only one counsellor from our circle attended, but 5 boys also came with us. We arrived on Friday around 6-6:30 and were there in time for us to relax a little before heading off towards the investiture. At the squires investiture 4 new boys were invested and are now part-taking in all the squires activities. After the investiture, we headed off to the pizza party. Our circle sat closes to the food hoping to be first but, like always we were the last circle called. It was ok though because the food was rather rotten but we all had fun and caught up with old friends. After the pizza party we had time to relax before the delegate and marshall meeting. Once the meetings were ajouurned we all retired to our rooms for a good night sleep. (Or that was the plan). On saturday, we woke up bright and early for our annual business meeting. After a long meeting we helped Joe Gamble from the Barrie Circle campaign for his spot as chief on the Provincial board. After putting up posters, we headed out for lunch. We had two workshops featuring the director of education in toronto and the founder of wells of hope. In between the two workshops though we held the annual bowling tournament, and even though some didn't do so well not to mention any names, (Cough, cough). Some did very well. After the afternoon workshops and bowling the Squires of Ontario attended a Mass held by our provincial father prior Father Sebastien Groleau. After the beautiful ceremony, we attended the annual banquet. The food was delicious and the speeches were amazing. Now it was time for the part that everyone was waiting for...the Awards! Our circle won one award. We walked home with the membership award for our creative use of recruiting boys to the program. A list of the winning circles will be posted soon. After the banquet we had an hour to do what so ever we wanted, then it was off to bed at 12:00. On Sunday morning we had another early start of 8:30 in order to attend the final business meeting. At this meeting we elected the new members of the Provincial Board. A list of the new officers will be posted soon. This meeting went a little longer then planned but it was well worth it. After the meeting our circle checked out of the hotel and went across the street to Burger King for lunch. Here we met up with many other friends from squires such as the Bolton, Barrie and Guelph circle. After spending some time saying farewell we left on our 2 hour journey home to Alliston Ontario.
