This was a rare opportunity to see this Vibrant Methodist Art Collection

GLIMPSES OF GLORY.

 

RIPON METHODIST CIRCUIT, TOGETHER WITH ALLHALLOWGATE METHODIST CHURCH AND RIPON CATHEDRAL PROUDLY PRESENTED

The Methodist Church Collection of Modern Christian Art 

 35 of the Works from the Methodist Church Collection of Modern Christian Art (consisting of over 40 items) were on Exhibition in Ripon, North Yorkshire for the whole of March 2008.

(Seven of the works from the collection were on display in Guildford Cathedral)

Ripon Methodist Circuit and Ripon Cathedral worked together to publicise and exhibit the works to 

allow a wide a cross section of the public a chance to experience them.

This is a vibrant and beautiful collection mainly depicting the life and death of Christ, and includes pieces by 

internationally acclaimed artists. Described by one critic as the most outstanding collection of modern religious art in Europe outside the Vatican.


You will be challenged by the images and ideas portrayed as you discover the depth of meaning behind

each work of art.

The Exhibition is now over and the works have been carefully packed up and returned by specialist transport to their home in Oxford.

We had a steady flow of visitors to both locations and many very enthusiastic comments in our visitors book.
A host of people helped with Stewarding and guarding the exhibition for which we are very grateful.
Altogether we feel it was a very worthwhile excercise and it opened up very many new contacts and friends, most especially with the Cathedral whose co-operation helped make the Exhibition such a success.
