| Good Day and Welcome! |

Good
morning and Welcome to the new something I am writing. I've been
watching Sex and the City and it occured to me that with some sence of
humor and the ironic way I look at things I could do that with my own
deal just for fun sort of an anonymous journal of sorts except most the
readers know me. This is my try I may stink and if I do feel free to
throw things at me and heckle me! Kick back enjoy and feel free
to email me with comical stories from your weekends and journeys. Email
me @ alley_chatterer@yahoo.com

| he Best Run Ever! |
|
 |
Theres a little blonde girl sitting in the corner on a little blonde
horse. She is oblivious to all the hubub around her. She fiddles with
her hat and plays with her whip while looking about with impatience.
There are kids scurrying about on much bigger horses than her pony and
it doesn't seem to phase her. She watches one run after the other
undaunted by the fact that many of these runs are much faster than hers
is destined to be. When it is finally her turn she gives the pony a tap
and tip toes forward into the lights. You'd think a big girls rodeo
with so many people would intimidate her but she is fearless as they
trot the pattern. The pony gets a little big for her britches and
considers goin back to the gate via a wide second barrel. There'll be
none of that, and its tiny rider takes hold and pulls her back on
track. As they round the third barrel and head home the applause is
louder and more appreciative than any of the applause for the prior
runs that evening. As she rides out of the Arena her smile is brighter than all the lights and as she's handing out high fives
I have to think to myself..." That is the best run I ever saw."
"We all could learn alot from little this little girl. The smile on her
face is priceless. She did not get upset at her wide barrel or the fact
that her run was many times slower than the other kids. She was happy
to be there doing what she loved getting the applause that so many of
us take for granted. I see to many people unhappy, while they are at a
rodeo, always worrying about the ground, how close the barrels are to
the fence, whether or not the alley is center. .. and I admit I am
guilty of it as well. However watcing Tory Harris the other night at
Aroura Missouri reminded me of a time when I rode a little sorrel mare that came
in like a fire breathing dragon and loped the pattern, I didn't win
first place but I still got to run and that was all that mattered.
How
many of us enter a local Jackpot because we havent' made a run for a
while and we just need to go fast because we love it? Not as many of us
as should. Take a moment go out tonight and ride because you enjoy
it... not because you have to leg old bay up or because Speedy needs
tuned on. If you can, find a safe place and let him run for no reason
other than the shear joy of it. I think you'll find a smile like Tory's
if you do." |
