Music Tuition in Nottingham for All Ages

Hi, my name's Tim and I teach Guitar at Nottingham High School for Girls and Middle 8 Music School in Loughborough. From my home in Bestwood, I also travel to visit private students for Guitar, Double Bass, Piano and Music Theory lessons. I have been a member of the Registry of Guitar Tutors since 2004.

Guitar and Bass
Do you want to learn just for your own enjoyment, or would you like to take grades?
If it's the former, I can suggest the right books for you, according to your learning objectives and musical tastes. If you'd like me to, I can also write our scores or tablatures for your favourite songs.
If it's the latter, and you play Electric Guitar or Bass, you can either choose the Registry of Guitar Tutor syllabuses or Rockschool, depending on whether you prefer to improvise, or learn set pieces.
If it's the latter and you play Acoustic/Classical Guitar, we'll use the Registry of Guitar Tutors' syllabuses: Take a look at their website for more information.

Double Bass
I teach jazz, rock'n'roll, blues and rockabilly on the double bass - i.e. any style that uses the fingers to pluck the strings, rather than a bow.
Many enquiries I get concerning the double bass are from people who don't own one, but would like to ask about where to buy them and what sort of things to look out for, and if they can have a trial lesson before commiting to buying one: Feel free to do the same!

Piano and Musical Theory
Piano players can either choose the Classical or the Jazz syllabus. Have a look at the ABRSM website for more information! Music Theory can either be studied as a Classical discipline (see ABRSM) or, if you're into contemporary music, the Registry of Guitar Tutors offers a Pop Music Theory Syllabus.
