JANUARY 2008 MEETING

The early morning start for our 26th January (Australia Day) meeting at Comarent Bay did not get off to a very good start. Upon arriving at the gates, we found that they were still locked and we could not get in. After getting in touch with the ranger, we were told that the picnic area had been booked out by the Esk Shire council for their Australia Day celebrations and so we would have to go around the other side of the Dam to Logan’s inlet if we wish to use the BBQ and tables for breakfast, so after a number of telephone calls to members who were still to arrive, we drove around to Logan’s Inlet. After some delay with BBQ’s that did not want to work, we finally started to cook breakfast.

While breakfast was being cooked (mostly by the men), some of the ladies were sitting in the shade when Keith & Pam Beasley arrived with Edna. Having settled Edna down with her table and chair, placed the cloth and her knife and fork ready for her to eat, Edna said that she was being treated like a Queen. Hence we now have Queen Edna, long live Queen Edna.

After our long awaited breakfast we started our meeting:-

We had 22 members present and we also welcomed Ted & Helen Mullin – Our members from Mackay who were visiting down our way, a long way to come for a BP meeting.

Biggest Morning Tea – 22nd May 2008:
Our Biggest Morning Tea will be on Thursday May 22nd 2008 at Stephen’s Church Hall in Gordon Street. As we cannot have a raffle we have arranged a Fashion Parade, however we still need more entertainment, if you have any ideas please phone Pam Beasley.

Fund raising ideas for 2008:-
Another date to remember is Millmerrin Camp oven weekend in October.

We are also looking to doing some fund-raising for Flying Doctors, and money to buy more CPR123 packages for more Outback schools.

Parcel for Distribution:-
Our members have once again gathered together a very nice parcel of goodies to be presented to Pastor Peter Pollard for distribution to those most in need at Christmas time.

Next Meeting:- Founders Day
Next meeting Fri 22nd February at Allawah – Bottom site. Morning tea at 10am followed by meeting and Founders Day Celebration – then back to Jets Club for lunch. Invitations to Southern Cross BP Guild, or any other Guild who would like to join us.
