My name is Allan Green I was born in Wigan on the 25/08/1951.
For the last twenty years I have been employed as systems engineer working on intuder alarms: cctv: nurse/warden call and door entry systems.
In September 2002 I suffered serious injuries in an accident, the injuries that I suffered have forced me into early retirement. The injuries have left me with mobility problems, because of this I needed a hobby to pass the time away but at the same time keeping my brain active.
I decided to go back in time to rekindle a old intrest in radio, at first this was short wave listening but I found that I was no longer satisfied with listening and wanted to transmit as well. Because of the changes in the amateur radio licencing system I decided to find a local club that taught the foundation course, this being the West Manchester Radio Club. Following the tuition I sat the exam for the foudation licence which I passed in April 2003. In October 2004, I took on the Intermediate course going on to pass the exam. I have the West Manchester Radio Club to thank for the expert tuition given to not only for me but for everyone who they have taught over the years.
Since becoming licenced I have made many friends within the ham radio hobby.
At the begining of January 2005 with a few of my friends we started our own club The South Lancashire Amateur Radio Club, which is now a growing concern.
Early this year I decided to apply to be a tutor for the South Lancashire Amateur Radio Club, being sucessful in my application I am now tutoring at the South Lancashire Amateur Radio Club.
