What is Salvation?
Definition: Salvation is the gift that God has given to us that we may be made righteous and have eternal life in Heaven.
The word "Salvation" means... "deliverance", "safety" or "to be saved." Having salvation saves us from Hell. Salvation is a free gift that we can either choose to accept or deny.
Everyone is a sinner and only someone righteous can enter Heaven. Back in the old days, when the old testament was written a long time ago, people would sacrifice pure spotless lambs in order to be counted as saved. But then God sent His son, Jesus, into the world. He lived a sinless life (he didn't sin even once). When Jesus (the pure spotless lamb) came to die for our sins, He took all of our sins upon Him so that all who accept His gift could have eternal life in heaven. (John 3:16 "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son, that whosoever believes in Him, should not perish but have eternal life.") (2 Cor. 5:21 "For He hath made Him to be sin for us, who knew no sin: that we might be made righteous of God in Him.")
If we choose to accept this gift, (accepting Jesus as our Lord and Savior and confessing our sins to God) we will be saved from Hell.
