I have successfully trained all the ferrets I have owned to use a litter box. I find that it is best to reward your ferret for using there litter box, not to disapline them for accidents. Whenever your ferret wakes up and wants to come out of his/her cage go over and place them in there litterbox I use the same word everytime when i put them in there box i tell them "potty". If they leave there box pick them up and place them in there again. They will begin to understand what to do. Once they go to the bathroom reward them with a treat (again ferretone and furovite work very well) and tell them "good boy/girl". Do not spank your ferret for accidents..accidents will happen even after litter box training and hitting your ferret will only make him/her afraid. Do not stick your ferrets nose in the spot where he had an accident. They respond much better to rewards. Rewards,praise,and love are the fastest ways to teach your ferret to use a litterbox. If you have your ferret in a cage and keep the litterbox in the cage make sure every 30-60mins to put him in his/her cage to remind them thats where they go to the bathroom. I have 2 litterboxes for my ferret one in his cage and one in my bathroom. They are at different ends of my apt. so he has access to a litterbox not matter where he is in my home. If your ferret will have free run of your home I suggest doing the same. This will limit the ammounts of accidents when they have a litterbox close by, but again be prepared for accidents..they will happen. This is how i trained my ferrets to use a litterbox. Other sites list other methods, just use whatever works for you and ur babies...just do not spank your ferret I can NOT say this enough.
