love for ferrets

little fuzzies that rule your world

ferret proofing your home- Holes are the first thing you want to check for, ferrets can squeeze into very small spaces. Make sure to block any holes close to the ground that you find. Be careful with couches, beds and recliners..ferrets can crawl under or in these. So before you sit down always know where your ferret is, otherwise you could crush them. Never leave washers, dryers, dishwashers,or stoves open. Be careful when putting laundry in your machines your ferret did not crawl in the pile. ALWAYS double check any of these machines before turning them on. Be careful with any objects on the ground..such as small toy parts, anything rubber, styrofoam, basically anything tiny that your ferret can fit in his/her mouth should not be on the ground, these items if ingested can cause a blockage. Make sure to vacuum everyday before your ferret is let out of his/her cage. Becareful with any doors often a ferret will try to run into a room or outside if you are opening the door, make sure to look down before closing a door to avoid closing the door on your ferret. Ferrets can open cabinets so make sure that any cabinet containing house cleaning products are safely sealed(child safety locks work well). Do not allow your ferret to have any access to a room with wires all over the ground, they do like to chew on wires. These are basic steps to take to make your home safe for your new arrival.
